Removed "Friends"

I removed some "Friends" today.  I don't understand why people make friend requests and then you never hear from them after you accept their friendship.  I mean, what is the purpose of that?  Either you have an interest in who that person is or, you wouldn't make the friend request in the first place, right?  It frustrates me that I get a friend request, I accept them, and I never hear from them ever again!!!!!!!!!!!  Sorry for the rant but, I just don't get this at all.
