Remembering 9/11
Here is the poem I wrote a day after the 9/11/01 tragedy in New York.
GOD BLESS AMERICA
September 11th, two thousand and one
Tragedy struck or nation
Over three thousand people lost their lives
From the fire and devastation
Our minds will always remember
What we were doing and where we were
When the planes struck the towers
And sent New York in A Blur
Innocent people doing their jobs
On an average sunny day
No one could ever imagine
What terror would come their way
Fireman responded to their call
And the Policemen did the same
they too, were consumed when the buildings fell
As the innocent who died on the planes
Although America suffered a blow
Her injury made her strong
Our people banded together
And we vowed to right, this wrong
GOD-----BLESS------AMERICA
Became the present theme
Once again "Old Glory" was displayed with pride
Everywhere it could be seen
From the little cities and village towns
From sea to shining sea
America lifted her colors high
As she knelt on bended knee
Our military was called to readiness
Our finest young women and men
Leaving their homes and families
Prepared to do battle, again
As we wait and look to the future
Let our motives and actions be just
We need to remember our motto
It's God in whom we trust
It's my prayer we seek His guidance
Re-establish our need of Him
We'll strengthen our faith and speak with our hearts
God Bless America, again
