Relieved
I finally got Rocky's cremains today. It took 4 months for his son to give permission to release him to me. I have had many sleepless nights worrying about him being left at the crematorium, dark and cold. I also worried that another family member may have gotten him even though he was not close to his family. Shortly before Rocky died he had asked me if I would fight for him and stand up for him. I said that yes, of course I would. I didn't know then, and perhaps he didn't know either exactly what that would mean. Funny, he had asked me that several times and I had always said yes, of course I would. Now I know. Although he died suddenly and unexpectedly it feels like he must have known something was going on. I've prayed and worked hard to have him released to me and am so happy that he is now with me. I will be keeping him until next year; exactly one year after he died. At that point, he will have a traditional tribal service on the Ponca nation. Aho!

I am so happy you finally received his cremains. My husband was creamated too, though it\'s not my choice, I find so much comfort having him here at home with me. I also have a locket of his ashes, and wearing that has gotten me through so many trying times. Hugs and Love to you, Michele
Thanks Michele, I also have a locket with his ashes in it as well. I only take it off when I\'m in water.
That\'s absolutely an amazing testimony to having held firm to your commitment to Rocky! I\'m curious what a traditional tribal service on the Ponca nation is about? I\'m part Cherokee . . I know many of traditions are \"not allowed\" any longer. How sad is that? Again, happy you prevailed and have his remains with you. We\'re here if / when you need us . . never alone, my friend. Hugs and Healing thoughts your way, D
P.S. Being Cherokee and considered a Pagan, I was compelled to start a new w/w grief support group. I can\'t remember if I invited you, but here\'s the link if you want to check it out: http://www.dailystrength.org/groups/widow--widowers-of-secular-belief
