Relationship in Recovery

Sunday afternoon, I'm on a break at work.....had a peaceful evening last night.....got good sleep....nice morning....life, if I stop to appreciate it, is good.... My bf "sneaked out" yesterday to buy me a Christmas present, and got interviewed by the local news team out talking to shoppers.....LOL.....he came in and "confessed" and apologized my present will not be a surprize this year.......it's on the news......hehehe Since he quit gambling, he has been a different person.  He is nicer.....his bills are slowly beginning to get caught up.....he is much more open with me.....he is starting to think about rebuilding the relationships with his family.  He surprizes me with flowers, a lovely card, brings home my favorite Won Ton Soup.....he has started working on his creative projects again.... We still have our issues.....but without the constant stress caused by gambling, our relationship has definitely improved.  It may take a while for this all to sink in....I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop!   Our lives may go in separate directions now that we aren't locked into being gambling partners....but what matters is we can both be free from the slavery of addiction...and are beginning to be free to grow as people... to renew and realize our dreams and goals....and to repair, rebuild, and renew our relationships with our family and friends as well. Wishing all my friends a wonderful day....and sending you my thanks for all the support I have been given... Big Hugs, Much Love....Dianne

Dianne, this is such wonderful news to hear! I know that there were times that were difficult to stand your ground when it came to the BF, but you did and look at the wonderful outcome! I\'m so happy to hear of the \"little\" things he is doing for you....love that in a man! Too funny that he got caught on camera with your Christmas gift, but I am darned impressed that he was out getting it this early! That shows thought and planning going into the gift...another thing I love in a man :) Life sounds pretty darn good my friend. Yayyyyyyyyy!!!!

Love, Julie

Thanks for sharing your relationship recovery with us, seems we all were kinda wondering about your bf and what happened with him. Glad you stood your ground and he saw the light. Happy recovery to both of you. Seems his life is getting better too.
Happy Holidays,

Diane that is great that you are getting along and you sound so happy. This addiction puts a huge strain on a relationship. I didn\'t realize it at the time but I was a completely differant person during my crazy gambling days which made my husband treat me differantly. Now that the fog has lifted I am alot nicer to him and he in turn to me. \"Sorry I carried on about my own relationship\". That is so sweet that he is bringing you some of you flowers and your favorites.
Hugs

Hi Dianne~ I do like this entry, sounds so nice that you and bf are doing better. He\'s out and about caught on the news...hilarious. Did you tell him that a second gift is now required? What\'s Christmas without a surprise gift? LOL. I am glad he\'s stopped gambling too; whether you remain together or go your separate ways, at least you\'ll have recovery and some semblance of sanity to lead you through....
love and hugs to you
