Relapse

An addict's life

She stands in the shower, tears washed away by the hot water pouring down on her,
"Why me?" She wants to scream, as she runs the cool silver blade up and down her leg.
1, 2, 3, 4.
She suddenly cant breathe. She's walking back and fourth, watching the blood trickle down her leg in a steady pace.
5, 6, 7, 8.
She can no longer cry. Tears refuse to fall down her cheeks as she carves the blade even deeper into her leg, the blood now pouring down her leg.
9, 10, 11, 12.
She sits down on the bottom of the bathtub, letting the water burn her skin. She clutches her head, wanting to make this feeling stop.
This pain.
This loneliness.
This fear.
13, 14, 15, 16.
She shuts the water off, and silently cries on the floor for a while, making sure her parents dont hear.
They can't know.
They can't know their daughter's sick.
An addict.
17, 18, 19, 20.
She pastes on her plastic smile, trying to convince herself she's alright.
She gets dressed, not caring if the blood stains her shorts.
It doesn't matter anymore.
21, 22, 23, 24.
She limps down the stairs, the blood still flowing freely down her leg.
She stumbles into the kitchen, her vision growing dark.
She leans against the counter for support, knowing she's going to fall.
Her mind pounds for moments before she drops to the floor.
The blood not stopping.
