reduction!!!!
Finally......I get to reduce the prednisone!!!!!! I am so happy There was no change to my pulmonary tests again so i argued that if 20mg of pred hasn't changed anything in 8 months then why can't we try 10mg....He said okay but I have to go back in a month for another PFT to make sure there is no change and I have to monitor my breathing very closely.....like I'm not aware of it every second of every day.
He was very upset that I had no change whatsoever since I have been on the full dose of cyclophosphimide for 3 months and there should have been some change, i am just happy that it is not getting worse. That was always my understanding that it would not get better because it is all scar tissue and that doesn't repair itself. So all things considered i am very happy.
This day has taken it's toll on me though, I forgot to take my meds before I left the house, and I couldn't figure out why I was so shaky.....it wasn't until I got home that i realized. It is a long day when I see the rhuemy and the pulm doc, they are both out of town and it is a 1 1/2 hr drive. I was hurting by the time I got home today....but it was my own fault for forgetting my meds. At least hubby had dinner ready when I got home....it was only burgers but it was wonderful anyway. So since I forgot to take the pred. this morning I started my reduction today...ha ha.
My doc made a comment about it being almost impossible to lose weight while on pred, but with this reduction I am going to go at it 1000%, just a little attitude there, but this weight is coming OFF!!!
So even though the doc was a little discouraged I'm not, I am very happy today even with all the pain I'm in now.....this too shall pass and tomorrow is another day.....WOO HOO!!!

Congratulations..I\'m down to 7.5 mg a day (Prednisone) and I have lost close to 10 pounds in the past couple of months. And so can you!!!!!!!
Glad you are happy with the way the day has gone.........I am happy for you.
thank you and congrats on your weight loss. I reduced to 17.5mg today, I am reducing to 10mg for now and then we will see.
Congratulations on the green light. In a couple of days is when you will notice the reduction. My mind is so much clearer and drum roll please, I\'ve lost 10 pounds in a week. Probably all the swelling, but I only have 5 more to go to get to my optimal weight. I think I\'m doing a lot of dumping from the acupuncture so that is speeding things along rather nicely. I\'ve met an old (one of the very first chiro\'s) MD/OD/chiro that swears his diothermie and ultrasound will deplete scar tissue. I don\'t know but a friend of mine swears by him. She broke her spine years ago and was confined to a wheelchair for a long time. She\'s walking now but still had a lot of problems from the built up scar tissue in her spinal column. She hasn\'t had a lot of her problems since seeing him. Don\'t know if her scar tissue is lessoning, but I know her drop foot and pain is lessoning. All the doc\'s told her that she would never walk again and now that she is, they are calling her back a misdiagnosis. Even after hours of surgery. The disability board said that she miracously healed and denied her disability.
I do that with my meds all the time. Yesterday happened to be one of those days for me also. Had to take the boy to the doc and he missed his graduation, there for over 3 hours and I didn\'t bring my mestinon. Without this drug I can\'t talk, can\'t see well, no depth perception, fall down, etc. etc. I even missed our driveway on the way home. At least we made it home. He didn\'t even need to go to the doc as it was exactly what mommy said it was, an allergic reaction to his antibiotics. Yep hives. That darn school nurse told me he was running a fever, get him to the doc and it is 97 degrees. He has a low body temp like mom. This is the 6th time she has unnecessarily sent him home. At least this is the last day of school and hopefully she will be better next year. If not, we are having a serious talk.
