"... strict ketogenic diet that can change the body chemistry.
The ketogenic diet forces the body to burn fat around the clock by making fat the main food and keeping carbohydrates or sugars low. According to the Epilepsy Foundation, doctors don't know why a diet "that mimics starvation" by burning fat for energy works, but for some, it prevents seizures - wonder what else it can prevent, if its changing BODY CHEMISTRY?
"We measured to the 10th of every gram for every meal, typically a cup of heavy cream and several ounces of butter and small piece of meat and one piece of broccoli," Parrent said. "It was horrible and he never had any relief from it."
HOWEVER, after three days on the diet, the seizures subsided.
"We were stunned," he said.
the bikers are here. like insects, swarming all of us, br says, no way to get away from it. went to red lobster again for lobsterfest and got their 15.99 four course special with an additional lobster tail. totally worth it. i had coupons in my email for a free appetizer and $10 off. even if unprinted you just give them your email and they can look it up, so we got over $23.00 taken off of our bill. yay! then additional because the meal took a long time. br was horrified because he is so used to everything costing so much more. mostly, it was less because of the $15.99 special, that also gave the bill another $10 off for each of us on our entrees. totally worth going there right now. i think it was the cheapest meal out so far, possibly EVER, even with drinks. highly recommend the special and join their "club" for the freebies. he tipped her 50 percent. lol. you can tell he is a gambler.
his stepson is visiting and br is dreading it because the guy's trans broke and he will ask br for the money to cover it. unreal. his stepson is 40. he can't cover his own repairs? and yes, he is working and does own his own house and stilllll asks for money, like he rather spend br's money than his own money. wtf? br's former wife was eight years older than him and he raised her kids since the kids were around 12, but he doesn't like the son much - always with his hand out, the total opposite of br. he says they will be at the track now DAILY because he will gamble on greyhounds every night, but not pay his own car repairs. wth?
he's going through additional drama because his sister had a bleeding ulcer and was coughing up blood. she had to have a company come in to clean up all the blood. he said she always had digestion troubles, even as a kid. she has to go in for a blood transfusion because of it. he has to travel to her because when she visited here two years ago, being on a plane messed up her hearing and it never went back exactly as it was and now she has this. he should really have gone up there because he lives at her house every autumn now, and at the moment she can't fend for herself. he didn't because his stepson was on the way here to visit. what a mess! she has friends and cousins where she is, which is where he is from, so she has help. but the two of them have always been good friends. they gamble together. lol. his ENTIRE family gambles. he says his sister is loaded because she has FOUR pensions, one of which is from working for the irs for a mere ten years. hope she gets to enjoy them all.
saw k briefly for coffee at his house today, only because we brought in six animals for spay/neuter and there isn't a lot of biker traffic in the early morning, it also rained the other day so it probably slowed down the bikers, its also gotten a bit colder out, i think 40's last night. i brought him cephlexin for his cat with a skin disorder. he also claims that elisabeth, the siamese with mange, perked right up as soon as she started on ivermectin last week. yay! also, his grey cat bandit has cancer - its the cat that was bleeding from an injury on the head that didn't seem to want to heal (which is a sign of either cancer or diabetes). we thought the cat just got into a fight. the vet said the cancer is advanced and eating into the cat's head from inside, that's why its still bleeding by the ear.
the cat is now a hospice patient at k's. its on a semi-narcotic painkiller and k says it perked the animal up right away. they are making it comfortable. its running around again and okay for now, its too progressed to do anything anyway the vet said. bandit is around 7 we think, i'd have to look it up to know. k remembers who its mother is but not the year it was born, and he remembers it was adopted with princess and returned. rg adopted princess because princess adopted rg. lol. also rg's cat visa (he named her after his credit card because she cost him so much money when she was a kitten, like here is visa and here is my visa credit card), she died recently as well. i think she was ten. what a mess of a year 2013 has been. one thing after the other. its exhausting.
went to the shops by the spay clinic and found a few books, just feeding my book addiction. one of the books is on the american revolution which i never read up on, it won a newberry so lets see how it goes.
the seller lowered the price on the 1 and 1/2 acres with a 3/1 house in town, again. its getting interesting now. looks like a good way to go. there is still a house by my timeshare to look at, and 20 acres further west to go see.
went doll shopping with a, for ME not her. lol. picked up india doll that i had wanted, an outfit for the cabbage patch infant, and a madam alexander replica of one i had as a preschooler. that is another saga if i get into it one day. used to have a LOT of madame alexander dolls as a small kid. people steal them, even adults. amazing that happens. anyway, she is cute. i am a huge fan of the book the story of holly and ivy by rumer godden, i read it yearly, its about wishing at christmastime. in the book the doll has a red dress and is in a window (a lot of rumer's stories are about dolls. all the dolls feel and think and talk. lol.) so i guess this doll is my salute to the doll in the story, except this dress is red KNIT with a knit cap. beautiful actually. the manufacturer does a great job with their dolls. worth every penny. you can get them way reduced at the store, tuesday morning (like half the price of a doll department or doll shop).

Lobsterfest sounds awesome! Good pricing too! Up here we have Lobster, (so we\'re told) but I do believe it\'s Crayfish. That\'s the rumor anyway. The one thing we have up North that you are lacking is a good ole pizza pie!! SLURP!
I feel so badly for the cat with the cancer. All they can do is make the poor fluffy thing comfortable to the end. How wonderful that you care about these precious creatures. You are special!
Had no idea that you were into dolls! Interesting hobby, and there are zillions of places to buy the kinds of dolls you can collect and pass on for generations! How cool. You do neat stuff!!
Happy Thursday!! xoxo
Great Journal Love U Xo
oh my no. i\'m the worst collector! lol. i generally collect something for a few years, and then i get tired of it and give it to charity. i\'ve had barbies and madame alexanders on and off since childhood. cabbage patch is a new thing that started by accident, and i used to collect teddy bears, which i already got rid of several years ago, but seem to be collecting again in very small numbers. i never have huge collections though. very few knickknacks as well.
we have pizza. one place is from brooklyn and fabulous and the latest one, i don\'t know where he\'s from but he\'s has the best pizza i\'ve ever had anywhere.
i do collect books though. the only hobby i have at the moment is rescuing animals after work. how about you? any hobbies?
why do you think maine lobster is crayfish? xxoo
I\'ve never been a doll collector but I do like collecting books too.
When we moved the last time I sent alot of them to the re-sale bookstore. I\'m still feeling a bit of regret over that. :-(
We don\'t get alot of Lobster down south, but I think - even at Red Lobster - when it comes out in the shell it\'s the real deal.
I often wonder why some people call Crawfish.....Crayfish? Maybe it\'s a regional thing.
