The girl, now 14, went on vacation. I felt that she was old enough to take the bus by herself from Maine to Boston to meet her Aunt, then the train from there to meet her former foster family for the week long fun in the sun vacation.
Things did not go well. While I was right about her being old enough to travel by herself, the fun in the sun turned out to be a bit too much for her and she wanted to leave early and there was excessive drama trying to arrange for someone to transport her out of there. It took nearly all day to get two people to agree to make the 15 minute drive each (one was out of touch for most of the day, and the other refused to interrupt her vacation), meanwhile the girl was hysterical.
She went from there, thanks to the family friend that picked her up, back to her aunt in Boston for the weekend, then, once again thanks to the family friend, to her mother's in West Warwick, where she was supposed to spend the week.
Meanwhile, it was discovered that the girl had head lice, and everyone was in an uproar, screaming at me
She and her mother got into it and she and her 7 year old brother got into it and the girl ended up shoving her 7 year old brother into the furniture. He wasn't badly hurt, but he was hurt. So, the girl's mother called the family friend to remove the girl from her house, screaming and swearing the entire time.
As soon as I heard, I packed up and got in the car. It is about a 6 hour drive to get there, and I arrived close to 10:00 pm. We left first thing in the morning, and spent the day peacefully discussing what had happened. While my 2 daughters and their friend were apparently discussing how I had failed to get the girl the help that she needed, and how we were both so seriously mentally ill, and how the girl needed to be in a mental hospital, the girl and I calmly discussed why her trip went so badly and why she was so upset with her brother.
When I tried to explain it to my daughter, she not only would not listen to me but accused me of making excuses for the girl and refused to accept any responsibility for the underlying issues which caused the problem in the first place. She got together with her sister and they decided that I was insufficient to deal with the problems that I have been successfully dealing with for 6 years and it was, of course, all my fault.
As if I don't have enough to deal with, my brother who has been mooching off me for the last 7 years is spinning things on facebook so that I look like some kind of lying monster who is A"not appreciating" him because I closed the joint checking account so that he would stop overdrawing it every time he ran out of money. Luckily, he has told them all that he decided he has to move, so I don't have to throw him out.
I'm going to give him about a month to leave before taking action to remove him.
Wish me luck!
