Really Great News

I had my 6 month check up with my rheumy & while he was putting me thru the paces as I like to call it, I asked him how do we consider when I could be in remission and/or is it a matter of some kind of test results, etc. etc.
I've had real minor issues come and go, a few stabbing wrist pains once or twice every rare now and then, dry mouth that may show up for a couple days.  My sleep issues of course are almost always there but he said he does not really consider come and go issues as real active lupus.  He said it was safe to say that I'm 95% in remission.
This may not mean much to alot of folks except us Lupus folks but imagine that, thats pretty close to that magic 100%.  Man did that boost the spirits.
I asked him abt herbal sleep aids, their ingredients & such & is it safe with Lupus.  He said the best thing I shd do is check them out, note ingredients & have my pharmacist see if there's any adverse reactions to the plaquenil (which is the only thing left I take in a more serious drug category).  Otherwise he approved that I could try something.  That really really made me happy.  Gonna follow thru on this I tell ya.  I almost wish there were more folks that read my journals & maybe have experience with this type of thing & could pass some info on to me but oh well.
So thats abt it for now, just wanted to note my good news.

That is fantastic news!!! Congratulations. I was in remission for over 3 years but a few of my readings are telling me that I\'m slipping out of it. I know it was stress and hopefully I can do my blood work over in August. I\'ll tell you. It\'s a great feeling. Savour it.

I\'m proud of you girl. Keep up what ever you are doing.

Hugs and love Nance

Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is wonderful news, praise God! It lifts my spirits to know your spirits are lifted. = ) You know, I didn\'t really think of sleep aids as interacting badly with lupus meds. So, if it were me, I\'d go for it also! I will note one thing ... lately I have been wondering IF maybe my OTC sleep aide wasn\'t the culprit for my dizzy spells (I\'ve had them 2 times and I had to lie on the floor for an hour or two and then afterward felt peaked and \"off\" for the rest of the day). But the dizziness didn\'t last much past 20 minutes or so. BUT, the interesting thing is that both occurred around noon and I think the night before I took a generic brand of sleep aide (no pain meds in it, just plain old blue pill sleep aide). So, I have to wonder ... herbal would certainly be better, but just keep that in the back of your mind if you happen to feel dizzy OK? Please keep us posted and sweet dreams.
