Reading Helps
It seems like there are very few things to pull me out of the awful greif, that has now become a normal part of my daily life. My husband and son come first, my best friend, my aunt (A minister)and my sister...the newest addition to that list has become reading, I had a true love for it as a teenager, but lost intrest, or time in reading till now. Since Jarretts death I've been clinging to the bible, and other Christian based books as if were my life line to stay with in the lines of sanity. Today I've been reading " When Your World Falls Apart" by Dr. David Jeremiah. I found a few quotes I wanted to share since mist of my friends here are in the same boat.
" Those who navigate little streams and shallow creeks, know little of the God of tempests; but those who " Do business in great waters" these see his wonders in the deep.Among the huge Atlantic waves of bereavement, poverty, temptation, and reproach, we learn the power of Jehovah, because we feel the littleness of man."
I found this to be so true. I have seen more hardship, more death, more real pain in my 29 years than most see in a lifetime. I have been told on several occasions that I'm a fighter, I'm strong, I'm brave... If you get tossed into the ocean you either swim to stay alive or surcome to the waves and die. Frankly I'm tired of trying to stay afloat! But I have noticed that those who have never faced hardship cannot understand our greif, and the fact that I'm still reaching for the Lords comfort. Why is it some people go through thier whole lives without real suffering, while others face insurmountable trials? How is that fair in the eyes of God? Why??

I use to read a lot, but after my son passed I lost all interesting in reading. I\'ve just started reading again, it\'s been about 3 months, and I\'m getting a lot from the book I\'m currently reading. \"Love Lives On: Learning from the Extraordinary Encounters of the Bereaved\" I don\'t know why some have an easy life and others face grief and suffering, it really doesn\'t seem fair, but we all know life isn\'t fair...but why not!!! Sending you and your wonderful family love and prayers, Terry
I\'m glad that reading, and words, feel helpful. Poetry comforts my sad heart like nothing else. Let\'s keep sharing these bits. It really makes things a teeny tiny bit better.

I too have seen more hardship, death and pain in my lifetime then many. I too have wondered how some seem spared. It is hard not to question when your mind is in such turmoil and your heart is in so much pain. As human beings, I feel it is our nature to justify what we cannot understand. Something that have happened in my life, I have yet to understand the reason. Other things I feel have prepared me for things later on in my life. My daughter sang a song with choir at church. It was called Trust in God. Wish I could find who wrote it for you. It is the most beautiful song. Everytime they sang it, it brought me to tears of joy. Because at the end of the day, at the end of every hardship...it is so true.... when you Trust in God that is when you find your way back.
It is so hard to know why what happens to different people, while it does seem that others seem to have no problems.....For the most part people and even some who know me don\'t know the trials that I have gone through and had to stay \"strong\".....I too have had the same thoughts you had about fairness in God\'s eye....I believe somewhere in the Bible it does state that he is no different to one as he is the other....I guess, we that believe think because we believe that God is going to protect us, our children, our hearts...because we believe....and you know you have just helped me as I write this...just because I believe i am no more special than anyone else who does not sever God as they too are His children and He still seeks them to come unto them...I don\'t know that everyone that seems to have everything go right and no problems is true as we sometimes believe....just this week two persons lost their life....one of them I know the mother....I was talking to my girlfriend about her and the lost of her son....The main thing that my friends concern was that never had this boy or his family been to church and learned of God love....and my friend who had known this family their entire life....her fear that he(the one who died) was not ready for his call to death.....the mother works in the courts system and is seem on tv a lot....and she probably will continue her job....and be on tv and people will not know the sorrow she has gone through....I think there are some who do not experience so much sadness in their life...and I guess that that is the way it is...but I don\'t believe that God chooses us to go through so many trial and no others....we also remember that not only do we have God in this world, but we have the Devil and the Devil is constantly tying to hurt people....I am sorry you have been through so much...one day maybe we will all understand...Love, Sandi Thanks for writing the journal it really made me think of me...
I read everything on grief I could get my hands on right after my son passed. From all perspectives. All helped in some way. All that was on my mind was the loss of my son, so what else to read? I am a reader. It does help and if it helps, keep at it. Your questions, I have no answer to. Anyone who pretends to if fooling themselves, I feel.
All we can do is deal with the hand we have been dealt and be kind to one another. Hold each other up.
I\'m here for you.
Love,
