RE: The effects of child abuse/brain damage
I tend to agree with "One size doesn't fit all and we are not somehow inferior if we don't have your insights or resilience or in the same place. We each have our own path and go at our own pace."I can accept that I am damage. It is a comfort to me know how, where and why I am damage. Because...... (anecdote) "now I know why I couldn't put the pieces together, my nail is bent. Now that I know my nail is bent I can stop beating myself up for not being able to use it and find another way to put the pieces together, like glue, staples, pegs etc..." My point is until I found what my trouble was, I was stuck in a using "bent nails" while others used "straight nails", I couldn't move forward. Now that I know what my trouble is (bent nails) I can move ahead using a different way and I am no longer stuck and no longer have to beat myself up for it.
