Ran 3, watched what I ate!

I went to the treadmill on yesterday's gloomy day to put in my 3 miles as it indicates on the schedule I'm following, and let me say, I rocked it!

Even though I'm doing low mileage now, I'm hoping it won't take me long to get back to 10-15 miles. It never really does - it's just a matter of my keeping up with some kind of running schedule.

I always find that if I ever dip down to struggling with 2-3 miles, I know I have a rough road ahead of me. What really gets me motivated and running every day is when I'm comfortably running 4-7 miles, and running isn't so much a drudgery as it is a relaxing time of meditation. So when I'm at the low mileage, struggling through, I know I just need to keep at it a little more, every day, to get to  the point where I am looking forward to my run. And then, the workouts almost schedule themselves! I'm looking forward to that point.

I also watched what I ate yesterday, which is a habit I'm not used to as well. Over the weekend, I had a huge steak sandwich, a decadent steak dinner, a very indulgent Italian pasta lunch, among other unhealthy things (beer, wine, late night fast food). It's no wonder my scale is showing the consequences of my actions...

But yesterday, I had oatmeal and a banana for breakfast, chicken pad thai for lunch (but I only had half the dish for lunch, the other half for dinner), and grapes and one dinner roll. A filling day, in need of veggies, but at least not gorging myself like I did over the weekend.

Today I have to run 5 x 400m at a 5K pace. I decided to do the intermediate plan after all. I also had a small ravioli lunch with a 180 calorie ice cream sandwich with a banana. My roommate is cooking up chicken noodle soup for dinner... yum! I'm also hoping we go "healthy" grocery shopping, and I'm going to look up some recipes before we go so I know what to buy and make.
