Raiding the Family Video Archives Again!

This is a procedure I do every year:  I go back into old family movies, edit them with music from the period now from CD or mp3 in stereo, and put them on DVD for myself as well as family and friends to enjoy.  Mainly, I do this because it helps keep my brother's memory alive.  He passed away back in 2007.  I'm currently visiting video footage of him back in 1993, when he was young, handsome, slender and extremely healthy!   And it also shows how young and slender we all were!
On the one hand it kinda hurts to see him again, because it reminds me of how nice, zany and funny he was and it makes me miss him all the more.  On the other hand, it's good, very soothing and therapeutic, because it fills in a black hole, a sense of an absence, a void, that inhabits my soul, particularly around this time of year, every holiday season, because this is the season when he got sick and died.  I wonder if he misses me too?  I wonder if he looks down upon me revisiting him, and smiles?
Response from the rest of my family to these videos has been overwhelmingly positive too.  All my family members report a similar soothing experience.  So I make it a policy to, when I have time off from editing other people's wedding videos, crank out at least one of these 2-hr. compilation DVDs of family videos every year, preferrably one of recent memories like from last year, one of memories like this from at least 10 years ago.  It's such a great blast from the past.  So many great, funny memories.  It's also a reference point for life now, places life now in perspective, shows how great life now can and should be, a life filled with humor, passion, fun and excitement!
