RAI is now scheduled
OK - hubby got home and filled me in with the phone calls he has been doing.
We are going to reschedule the surgeon follow-up on my vocal cord paralization. We just can't take him taking that many days off of work all in a row.
Friday I stop taking my T3 meds and start my low-iodine diet. If I am already losing 2 or 3 pounds a week now, I can only imagine that nothing I own will fit after three weeks on that diet. I plan to ride my horse this weekend. I was warned that once off my meds I am going to emotionally 'freak out' and feel terrible. Great. My daughter is working on figuring out what and how we are eating for the next month. She says that everyone will join me on the diet - but that her and her dad can add things to what they eat.
Anyway, on Friday the 17th I go in for my scanning dose. Tom will take the day off of work to go with me. I will be safe to be driven home at that point and spend the weekend with family, Service Dog, and pets.
Then I go back on the following Monday for the scan. Again, Tom will take the day off to be with me. Finally, on Tuesday the 21st, I go in for my RAI dose. So Tom will have to take a total of three days off work.
On the way home, I have been told to ride in the back seat of the car on the passenager side. About 3/4 of the way home there is a motel that I will be checking into for the next six days.
I started scared, but I have gone to numb. This is the last big hurtle. After the RAI, then it is just getting my meds figured out - which is something I am so very used to the trial and error approach of the VA. Then it will be ok.
For some reason I had coped with the waiting by convincing myself that it would be months away. To find out it is only weeks away hit like a ton of bricks.
