Racinos are the new casinos...

I self-excluded myself last July from casinos after my gambling was out of control, a fix for my loneliness after family deaths and severe depression. I was doing fine until I discovered Miami Valley Gaming in January, a Racino that I could play at despite my self imposed lifetime ban at casinos.I fell into the rabbit hole again until last week when I self-banned myself from MVG for life. Self -exclusion is a well kept secret. There is literature about the signs of problem gambling, hotline for Gamblers Anonymous --but you will not see anything posted about self-exclusion. I hope the Ohio Gaming Commission will think about publicizing that option in Casinos and Racinos because it takes the choice away from those of us that are compulsive gamblers.

Hi Losergal,
As you know, I self excluded, one month ago today. I agree with you 100% that this option needs to be way better publicized. Now that I\'ve done it, its very hard to read comments here sometimes about people struggling to stay away from the casinos, when most could self exclude and take that option away from themselves ! I don\'t like to preach about anything, but on this subject its very hard not to. If you are serious about quitting, SELF EXCLUDE ! I do know some states / places do not offer this option, which is criminal in my opinion.
SO happy for you that you became proactive and took these further steps to ensure you financial safety and mental and emotional sanity !
Congratulations !
