Not inspiring, but truly revealing. We were sitting around the dinner table & my son says, "Being a father is not that hard." My H & I laugh, since of course my son has no idea about what it's like to be a parent. H says, "Being a father is one of the hardest things I've ever done." So then I ask my son, "Why do you think being a father isn't hard?"
 
He says:     "Being a father isn't hard because you just give everything to the mother to do."
 
Well, if that didn't speak volumes. I didn't say a word, because I was not about to invalidate my son's observations. Strangely, my H didn't either.
 
Obviously, this is bothersome. Not because of the fact of it (which I've gotten used to--don't like, but got used to), but because of the impact this is going to have on my kids. Will my son abdicate his responsibilities as a husband & a father? Will my daughter choose a husband who won't do anything?
 
I suppose this is a matter for prayer. I can't change how H will be, but I can pray for my kids' choices.
