Quit My Job

Unfortunately, I had to quit my job on Friday. My general manager would not work my work schedule in with my college schedule, so I basically had to quit my job on the spot because I absolutely could not make it in the days he was scheduling me without falling greatly behind in school. The thing is, I gave him a two month notice on how my college schedule was going to be and my availability. It was still screwed up. I would have much rather put in my two weeks notice, but it was not an option for me.

But, I believe that everything happens for a reason, and I know that great things are coming my way. I applied for several jobs over the past few days that I know will pay me much more than Shoe Carnival did! I needed change. This job at Shoe Carnival has not been the best experience for me. Nobody took me very seriously and everything that I said or did was laughed at. I was not taken seriously, which stressed me out and upset me a bit. I do not think that a work environment should be that way for anyone. Not to mention, one of my managers was trying to invite me to all of his house parties with all of the other employees at our work. My manager said that he wanted to get me drunk because he could not wait to see how "funny" that I would be drunk. I do not drink or do drugs. It is a waste of my time. I want to focus on living my best life and going to school to become a social worker. I do not have time to be wasting my life away.

On the bright side, no work for a while means I can spend more time on my school work. I already have a five page research paper, reading for all of my classes, homework, two tests coming up, and I have to get in a 12 hours of volunteer work in for one class, and 2 hours of volunteer work in for another! But, I am happy about it. I never mind going to class because I am 100% motivated. Becoming a social worker is what I was made to do! Anways everyone, I hope you all have a nice night.

It definitely sounds like you're better off without the Shoe Carnival job. Your manager didn't sound particularly professional. Good luck w/the job applications and all of that school work. What type of volunteering will you be doing?

I agree. The job at Shoe Carnival began to get miserable for me, and thank you, I hope someone calls me back, too! Although, in a way, I am not in a huge rush. I would like to get this volunteer work done before I start working again. I am not sure of where I am going to be volunteering at yet. I am researching places in my area. I may ask my own social worker if he has any recommendations. I would like to do a couple six hour days and get it done because my plate is very full right now! I will still enjoy it, though.

That makes sense. Hope you find a volunteer job that you like!
