Putting Virginia on Emergency Status

The governor of Virginia has declared an emergency even though it hasn't even started snowing! I didn't know an emergency could be declared in advance??

Today, Thursday, was a picture perfect winter day. Cold but not bitter cold, and little wind. The sky was a beautiful blue and the clouds white. Not a gray area in the sky or the clouds. I felt excellent, and I rarely feel excellent.

Tomorrow (Fri.) and Sat. we are supposed to get a blizzard.

Only thing that scares me is if we lose our power. We'd lose our heat as well as our lights, TV, computer, stove/oven, etc. They are calling for a lot of power outages. At least I'm in a preferred group to get it fixed. Here in VA, Dominion Power Co. prioritizes. First to get service are hospitals/nursing homes. Second are SENIOR BUILDINGS !!!  So if we lose power, I'm hoping it gets restored within a few hours.

This storm will affect millions of people.

Hi Judy, wishing you all warmth, and safety. We\'re thinking of you all, and praying that you all will be ok, and won\'t lose power. our thoughts, prayers, and hearts are with you all.
hopefully the power won\'t go out. we\'re keeping an eye on the news, and hoping, for the best of comfort, safety, and warmth.
our state last year, declared a state of emergency before a winterstorm. when a state does this, it ensures that they will recieve urgent help, with everyone/everything that needs help, during the storm. from snowplows, to sanding/salting of the roads, to fixing power. it enables the states to be eligible, to recieve funds, for all they need, to help make it through the storm. We\'re sending our love, positive energy, and our most warmest friendship hugs, from our hearts, and home to yours. take care, keep warm, and safe :)

Thank you, everybody, for your well wishes. I truly appreciate it. The snow is supposed to be the deepest where I live (western part of Richmond), whereas there will be more sleet and ice where my sister lives (south of Richmond). The people with more sleet are more likely to lose power because of the heavy ice on the power lines. All we can do is wait.

These days the powers that be like to alarm citizens so they can save their own skin is something should happen. It is all so the state doesn\'t get sued. Our local weatherman is usually wrong so I don\'t pay much attention to him.
Stay warm and cozy!

I think they declare an emergency in advance because of what could happen and they want people to be prepared with food, water, ways to keep warm and way so have lights if it comes to that. I have seen pictures on TV of Washington DC and it is nasty.
Stay in side and stay safe warm and with lights.
