Puppy Mill Raid

Thank God!  My prayers were answered!  They finally raided (again) that horrible puppy mill, Almost Heaven Kennel, in Emmaus PA.  This place has been fined, and raided multiple times.  Right after Kona was removed by a rescue (they were about to kill 40+ puppies when the rescue found out and went in and took them,)  they were raided.  There were over 400 dogs/puppies then and they found like 60 dead puppies.  They kill them when they run out of room and the next litter is due.  Or if they are sick, they kill them.  The breeding females never leave their cage.  The one rescue I worked with desperately tried to get them to release Kona's mother.  I never heard what happened.  I actually watched an episode of Dog Whisperer today (on On Demand) where Ceasar Milan goes to a puppy mill.  It just rips me up!  So apparently, this guy is now shut down for good, hopefully.  They are in the process of removing 300+ puppies.  The local rescues are overwhelmed.  You can read the article at CBS3.com. I get SO choked up when I think of Kona coming from that place and what she went through!  And how close she came to dying.  The rescue was told to take all the puppies immediately or they were going to kill them.  They didn't have foster homes for 40+ puppies and took them anyway.   No wonder she was SO fearful when she came here!  To see how skinny she was, and scared and starved and full of mange and mites and God knows what else, including worms.  You would never know it to see her now!  She is just my blessing from God!
