Puppy
My neighbor has gotten a puppy. This is the third dog they have on a chain. I don't understand why they have dogs. They don't play with them and hardly keep enough water and food out to sustain them. I'm calling her Little Girl because I don't know what they have named her. I have names for the other two, Little One, he was a puppy when he came around, and Mocha, a chocolate colored chihuahua, the mean one of the group. Little One is a great dog, not sure what breed he is, and I love him. He's chained near the back of the yard in a corner on our common fence. He's very loving and gets excited when I'm in the yard. It's hard not to pet and talk to him. Little Girl is chained midway on the fence and seems to always be in trouble. Her chain gets snagged on various things along the fence, small stubs of lopped off bushes, tree trunks that have grown in the fence and have just enough space that she can get through, etc. Whenever I got out with Foxy, I have to unsnag her from something. Last night was rough. She had wrapped the chain around a stub 3 or 4 times and was stuck with only 6 inches of chain. I've been using my cane to unsnag her and she's found that the cloth loop that helps the cane from falling is a great toy. Sooo, it makes it a little complicated when I'm trying to help her and she's wanting to play with the loop. Anyway, last night, I just couldn't get the chain untangled no matter how hard I tried. It was too tightly wound. Finally, after about 20 minutes of thinking and fooling around in the semi-darkness, I got it fixed. I thanked God for the patience and thinking that got her loose. But, I can't be this puppy's keeper! She's not my dog, but I can't let her stay tangled. The neighbor is the one that has helped me with food, but he's seldom around and his wife doesn't speak English and is a little crazy. I can't report them because they would know who did and I don't want to lose his friendship. I'm at a loss of what to do.
