Pumped up and ready to go! - 17 Days To The Race

Welcome to my training log! I'll be posting photos, video, and food and exercise snippets from each day, so check back often to get to know me and my workout methods :)
Today, Thursday, my training program says to run 2 miles and then strengthen.  With 17 days to go, I'm getting more and more excited about the race!
I'm also traveling at the moment to see my family, and I'm in lovely Santa Monica right next to the beach. There is a running path here that goes to the Santa Monica Pier, and beyond to Venice Beach. As you can see in the photo, it's gorgeous.
Check back during the weekend, when I'll be doing my run in San Diego!
One of my favorite parts of running is that you can do it anywhere, with hardly any equipment at all. I will update this entry later today with an update of my 2-mile run and strength workout (I plan to do pushups, crunches, and lunges today).
In the meantime, enjoy this photo of the beach. Imagine it's just you, the sky, the sand, the water, and the lifeguard tower, in an otherwise undiscovered setting. You have time to kill, miles to walk, and a fresh sea breeze at your back while the waves gently lap at your feet, playfully tickling your senses with the pleasant feel of soft, cold water. Even if you don't live near a beach, it sometimes helps to close your eyes, and just for a few minutes, escape and find inner calm-- if only in the imagination.
