Pulled the trigger

I pulled the trigger.  Booked a flight to Rio, Nov 28 and coming back Feb 28.  Not sure why so long but I can always come home sooner if I want.  Just pay small change fee.  Booking went smoothly.  I found great business class fare and the flights aren't too long.  A connection from LAX to Panama breaks the trip up into halves.  18 hours total flight time and then 6 hour time diff so leave here 745am and get in Rio next day 745am.
I talked with my 91yo mom in IN yesterday.  I had told her a couple weeks ago I might come visit over Thanksgiving.  She understood, she said so very convincingly.  I still feel guilty.  My choice.  Just so hard to go visit.  Just too many friends and family to fit into a schedule where I have to make so many plans.  Stems a bit from losing my wife in 2004.  She was the planner, the socializer, the one who coordinated it all.  I'm getting better on doing that alone but it is still so hard to go back 'home'.
Going to Brazil is easier.  Just go and my friend and I will decide what we do when I get there.  She has dual citizenships, knows the language and country.  She will be a great guide. Simpler.   New experiences and no old memories there.
I've been chatting on Skype with her in Rio about every day.  We are both on the  same page about many things.  Simple life, easy going, non-materialistic, does meditation, enjoys exploring nature, etc.  I am excited to see her.
Started the Chopra 21-day meditation on abundance.  Great series. https://www.chopracentermeditation.com/Bestsellers/LandingPage.aspx?BookId=172
Each session is 15 minutes.  A few times I have walked across the street to the beach and did my meditation there.  Wonderful feeling.  Why have I wasted so much of my life being unhappy.  I am very fortunate for what I have and what I am.  And now I have time and money to do whatever I want.  Sure, I've had some misfortune.  Most people have.  But I always remember what my good friend said - when you feel you have troubles, imagine everyone one else in a circle with you.  You all throw your problems into the middle.  When you see all the other problems you'll grab yours back so quickly.
It's time to be more appreciative.  To share and help others more.  To get the abundance the universe has for us all.  To live happily.  To enjoy life.  Isn't that what it's all about, Alfie?
