Puddles and dandylions.
Author Unknown
When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over my yard.
My kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff
you can wish on.
When I look at an old drunk and he smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money and I look away. My kids see someone smiling at them and they smile back.
When I hear music I love, I know I can't carry a tune and don't have much rhythm so I sit self-consciously and listen. My kids feel the beat and move to it.
They sing out the words. If they don't know them, they make up their own.
When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it messing up my hair and pulling me back when I walk. My kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.
When I see a mud puddle I step around it. I see muddy shoes and dirty carpets. My kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross, and worms to play with.
I wonder, do you think God gives us children so we can
teach them or does He give us kids so they can teach us?
Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

definitely! Those little things truly are the big things1
It's all about perspective, isn't it, bob? Good reminder.
You reminded me of this song from my youth, bob, "Eyes of a Child" by the Moody Blues.

that is a nice poem bob....either you wrote it or someone else did but I liked it....I do not have children so to me I have to learn without seeing it from the eyes of my children....
This is lovely Bob and so very true.... God gives us many gifts if we'd only recognize them..... Big hug... xo
Some Russian writer said that life is in the mundane. And he was right. Those 'memorable' experiences are so fleeting. One of the walks I take the most has the sound of flowing water and wind in pine trees. Even though it's so familiar it takes me out every time. I dream about the streams... It's a part of me. I love to cook. There's something timeless about it that I love. Little things that are everything. Birds!!!! best little things ever. I appreciate them more and more.
Thankyou everyone! Yes, That's why I get so much enjoyment out of the things around my house. It doesn't take much to amuse me.
~~~Peace~~~
