i guess there are DSM guidlines for PTSD diagnosis. i have been diagnosed with PTSD. in my case i have had several incidents of trauma. my PTSD symptoms happen when i get stressed and have a triggered anxiety attack. my mind connects into my Limbic brain - which has no time stamp (has no relation to time at all) - and is overtaken by whatever incidents that i was traumatized by. so i essentially plug right back into the feelings and overall conditions that occurred during trauma incidents. so then i become dissociated, sort of out of body and can have hours of major anxiety attacks. every traumatic event in my mind races and reaches through my mind. is that PTSD? who knows. i am told it is. i know what i've learned (at STAR) about abuse trauma survivors and how the Limbic brain plays a role. makes perfect sense to me.
