PT update: week 2 begins
Today I had the usual heating pad, massage and pool therapy. They added two exercises and pool weight exercises. I'll try to explain them here. The first exercise I did was with a lat bar pulldown. I pulled the bar down, tucking my elbows to my side, then lowering the bar to my pelvis and raising it to chest level. I did 3x 10 reps for a total of 30. Next I lay supine, meaning on my back with my knees raised and back resting in neutral spine to do marching. I raised each leg only 2 inches off the raised bed, held it for one count, then lowered it to raise the other leg. All the time I have my tummy pulled in in a pilates hold; bellybutton to spine while breathing regular breaths. I did 30 repetitions again. Then I prepared for the pool. I am now to use paddles or in my case pool weights, walking forward, then back, then side to side. I also do punches, 30 in total with the weights underwater at all times. It adds about 10 mins to my hour and a half making my sessions now and hour and 40 minutes. I did have to wait for a shower today...there was a queue. I'm doing well and my walking on non- PT days has grown to around a mile and a quarter. Sadly, I remember the days of 22 miles runs. That will never be allowed now. I am also dieting and tomorrow is my weigh day. I hope I have accomplished a little towards my weight loss. I am experiencing some spasms in my neck and shoulders but heat should help with that.

Well done Darlene. I like the weights and I feel I could incorporate that in my warm water therapy. I will go slow and see how it goes since is I am not working with a PT. My main problem is my neck. However the core needs strength.
I love that you are making progress with the walking. Of course it is a disappointment that you aren\'t and may never do what you did. What you are doing though is moving forward and that is most important.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey into recovery. I look forward to reading each journal.
Keep up the work and know you are progressing for the good of your well being.
Many healing wishes from
Hippy
