Psychologist Biographies

Have selected an initial biography from the library as a way of engaging with "Hearing psychologists talk about THEIR career, their motivation, their joys, their struggles..."
"Cockney Kid: The making of an unconventional psychologist" by Tony Taylor
"he pays tribute to youth leaders and teachers who helped him find a sense of direction..." He overcame educational barriers to first become a probation officer and then a prison psychologist! Wow! "Integral to his professional career was seeking professional help to cope with his own identity problems that stemmed from a family dominated by his mother and grandmother" omg... lol that is too appropriate! Should be an interesting read! : )

p. 220 \"He (Newell Berry) echod William James\' earlier comment, that psychology had become a \'nasty little science\' for focusing on minutiae just for the sake of it, while avoiding genuine problems of social significance. His comments struck home with me, and it made me even more determined to do something about it in my new job.\"
