called maryd who i have known for ten years and have traded jokes with on line for about five years. in the passed few months, i noticed she isn't forwarding jokes. i figured she is busy. her daughter has lupus and her grandchildren all just finished high school. well half right. she had NO IDEA WHO I WAS. at first i figured the connection was bad, then i had to say it over and over. then you could kind of hear her register it ... wow! that is the first experience i have had with someone i know who isn't all there. m used to be a cpa and is a college grad, but she also had an abusive first or second husband so whatever damage that did from injury could bring stuff like this on early. she is over 62 now though. 4 years ago, she started taking care of a woman with alzheimers who is dying now. and recently started renting to a man with dementia who has caregivers helping him. i thought to myself, is it catching? seriously. i really need to take classes in gerontology to understand any of this. i was STUNNED. she said her computer was down for the passed couple of months - that wouldn't explain five months and its soooo abrupt. is that how that goes?
then she said her daughter's house went into foreclosure - so more stress (which they were expecting for the passed 3 years) she bought way HIGH ten years ago when she was an executive for xerox and then was diagnosed with lupus and the market for houses crashed around here. she never tried to make deals with the bank or refi in any of the obama plans -- no idea why. she is ill, but hanging on. m moved from tampa to here to help with the kids and at the time was healthier than her daughter. she finally sold in tampa 3 years ago and bought a house locally, at a nice low price, the opposite of what her daughter did.
her daughter moved to a smaller home and didn't try to buy anything else. only one of the grandchildren is still living at home the other two are in georgia. m only talked to one anyway. she did the same with her own, talked to her daughter and ignored her son. a LOT of people are like that, they can't handle more than one relationship at a time. m is also one that works every holiday rather than deal with the melodrama and the stress. she used to crack me up.
so weird morning. it shakes you up and to be frank, its soooo sad. wth? then she is HER again. she calls up with a number for the guy we are trying to find housing for. very prompt. all proper, name, address, directions. and its like oh yay, m is back. i don't get it. i know its not her fault, its just so strange.
other than that, boring day. got very little done. i seem to need to rest in between, i can't have a heavy day and then another heavy day of work. odd. i was never like that before. did some pruning in the morning around 9 a.m. and when i returned for the rake, there was a RACCOON in the yard behind me. raccoons are nocturnal, so did i wake him where i was pruning or is it a dangerous or pregnant raccoon. scared the shit out of me. i called rn to find out what to do, but that ended it for me. the guy is still taking down trees and branches with a chainsaw so super noisy around here.
the guys ordered pizza. i only had one slice. so funny as i used to not like pizza until maybe 12 years ago. i think i'm back to not liking it again. just as well, its full of fat and totally unhealthy. already finished a cottage cheese, it really does help with the stomach.
