Promise Fulfilled

Somewhere between the Protective Custody Shift in mid August and the tragic car wreck on September 21st, Hubs and I promised the GKs a new house. The ramshackle old farm house was the best camp cabin ever, but not so much for the launch base of daily operations. Vacation challenges are an entirely different orchestra than business-as-usual. Housing upgrades had been on the farm rennovation project list from day one. The childcare shift merely bumped that heavy duty item up the priority list. Merely. . . Mind your meers, woman!

The delivery of the furniture and the near completion of the porch has me feeling like the promise is fulfilled. The proverbial two wolves inside of me are bickering energetically over whether that promise is the springing of a trap which will hold me to my end of days or a launch pad for daring, albeit unplanned adventures. Feed The Good Wolf? ? ? Which one of you furry bitches is The Good Wolf? Ya both looks like barky fools to me. Stay away from my chickens. . .

Sigh. . . Methinks I'm lost in metaphor AGAIN! ! ! Breathing. . .

I am grateful this is Saturday. This crisp dawn feels especially intense. Be the change judged as "Better" or "Worse," any change is a shock to the system. How many changes has this little ship of fools been through since August, both collectively and individually? Depends who, where, what, why and what day you ask, I s'pose. "Quite allot" is as precise as I care to get just now.

"Letting the dust settle" is a profound metaphor here in the dust bowl. The only way to settle dust here is to turn it into rocky mud which will swallow a cowboy caddilac whole, designer boots, key fob and all. The only thing worse than getting lost in metaphor is confusing metaphors with literals. Sticking to the spirit of the metaphor, I believe ^it^ is the prayer I'm gonna stick to today.

Prayers in progress. . . God, please grant us less. Just praying. . . You is leading The Dance.

Is it the "Grounding" drawer of my psychotherapy toolbox which is calling me today? A house is just a house. It be the grounding elements which make it a home. I think. Maybe. "Home" remains a vague concept to this wandering fool.

Grounding might be a good idea for today my friend. Change is one of those pesky unavoidable consequences of living. It’s as reliable as death and taxes.

Personally I’d focus on the “promise fulfilled” as a good thing and even if those wolves are bickering, it’s always better to be prepared than get ambushed. Perhaps the trap they are wary of is not the trap you anticipate.

Either way, I’m here for you, listening & supporting you, Arfie.

Given the state of the world as I'm experiencing it these days, arfie, fulfilled promises are more precious than ever. Fulfilling yours is something to be proud of. I admire you for it.
