Processing II
Big Sis woke up talking about "Mommy and Daddy are dead." with 3 year old matter-of-factness which sent a light chill wave across my senses. A light chill. There was no macabre innuendo to the monologue. Just a simple acceptance that lasted all the way through getting ready to wake the feather babies. Little Sister rode along for the feather duties this morning. At nine months old, she is merely riding the waves of emotions around her. Infants get my vote as the most reliable emotional barometers ever invented. Her calm makes me believe we are holding steady through the trauma.
We are getting to the gory details of the funeral arrangements. Stepping small, praying big and letting The Gnarly Old Dickhead lead the dance. WHY YOU DO THESE THINGS! ! ! NFF! ! !
My best beloved sis is making noise about heading this way. I hope she makes it. Just hoping. . .

IDK Arfie....I was 3 when my father died, my sister's kids were 3 and 1.5 when she died....she was sick for 6 months so I think that time helped them to better understand....I think the 'it' here is the permanence of death. I too hope your sister will be at your side...Hugs!!
I don't know why bad things happen either sweetie..... I am so glad that your sister is coming to be with you..... Gentle hug......xo
At 3 y/o she really doesn't understand. The 6 y/o has limited understanding. Sounds like you did great at talking with them about the loss. Funeral arrangements are a horror show... too many decisions. Is his wife's family involved in all this? Anger is certainly on target. Hope your sis makes it to be with you. Comforting hugs and prayers still coming.
At least the gnarly old dickhead can’t stop you from being a caring grandma. The children at least have that while many have no one to step up. I hope everything goes as well as it can under these hard circumstances Arfie.
NFF for sure arfie. Keep that processing as long as you can. It is a blessing for those children that they were already beginning to settle with you and hubs. The love between the five of you will strengthen all of you. Big big hugs with prayers~
Gentlest of hugs Arfie
Peace and prayers to you Arfie through this tough time.
