Pretty creeped out by my boss...

Ok, so yesterday I was trying to assist a customer (I work in retail btw, we all have radios so we can communicate across the store easily) and I didn't have my ads on me because I had put them down a while ago to help my coworker with something. He got on my case for not having them and refused to help. I had to go get the ad, leaving the customers there to think for themselves. This was pretty unnecessary since he was free and could have just told me what I needed to know (in fact, he could have been a dick about it and just said "yes" or "no" and it still would have gone smoother than this).. but he told me to meet with him after my customer.

Well, I had a few customers back to back, then helped my coworker with something else, then he radio-ed me to see him in the office (which honestly, I had dropped the subject by then, forgotten and kind of just disregarded the incident ans yet another one of those frustrating things about my current job). He kept insisting on it.. Sure enough, I walk into the office and he starts asking me if I'm ok and then starts this HUGE verbal fight with me. Then once I could finally get a word in (he continued to try to interrupt) I kind of just blew up, may have raised my voice to try to keep him from interrupting. He had already freaked me out quit a bit so I was pretty jumpy, angry, and kind of intimidated and edgy... and then he threatens to send me home (which, thinking back I really should have taken him up on instead of saying what I did but my brain had kind of gone into defend mode I guess), I tried to make him aware of the mood he's been in (he's been in one of his weird, disagreeable, angry, stressed moods) and told him that if he continues to treat me or anyone like this I will call corporate and report him.. He took this as a threat

Then he got REALLY weird on me... Like, CREEPY SALESMAN/JEDI MIND TRICK kind of weird! He used my shock and uneasiness against me, kept saying I must be under some sort of emotional distress lately and I was a danger to people and "I'm glad you blew up at me instead of a customer" and I was trying to defend myself, trying to explain to him the rather obvious reason as to why I was so freaked out... I remember thinking there was something really weird about this behavior at this point but I couldn't put my finger on it. He kept saying "I'm feeding off your anger, I can feel it" and stuff like that which honestly is bullshit, but weird how he kept going on about it... and after he got me all riled and significantly tense he called another supervisor over to verify that I was "really on edge and have been since before this" The supervisor sort of agreed with us both.. she said I seemed a little stressed before that but that was because of something that happened way before (something that took me a while to even recall but from that same day... I later apologized and explained that I might have sounded angry when I was really just trying to make myself clearer on the radio).

I pulled that same supervisor aside and asked to speak with her when she got the chance and told her about this particular managers weird split personality.. told her I don't feel comfortable with him when he's like this, especially not after that.

But later on after work I was walking to the bus stop and realized, that weird speech my boss had given me before he called another supervisor over sounded and felt A LOT like some sort of really twisted sales pitch meant to "convince" me I was really REALLY angry and upset... He even said I'm under a lot of stress and that I must be suffering from some sort of serious emotional distress (WTF?!?!)... since that revelation, I've been really creeped out by him. Thankfully its only been a day and I haven't had to work with him but Idk what to do...

The thing is, he's actually a pretty valuable employee and usually for the most part one of the better ones. I know he's got personal issues that he's forced to deal with and even know a little about them. Usually we're even friends, we rarely butt heads like this, just sometimes when he's in his "moods" like this. I would feel pretty guilty if I got him fired but there's definitely something wrong here. I feel like I should do SOMETHING but idk what to do.

At least there's two good things to look forward to:
1) The general manager returns from a serious family emergency soon, I'm probably going to tell him about this but I've also been waiting to talk to him about a couple of important things (especially my new job). He's really the only one I'd trust at work the most, he's saved my job soo many times, always been approachable about stuff like this... He's the one I'd want to seek advice both about what to do regarding the new job vs this one and also what I should do about the boss that started a fight with me.
and more importantly 2) I start my new job next week!!! HOPEFULLY this job will work out well enough so I can quit the current one, I HATE sales. I don't want to drop my sales job complete, its honestly not a bad job its just not fulfilling or really that enjoyable but at least it pays enough to cover the bills and rent. Normally I would just speak to the manager I've been ranting about but like I said, he's in one of those "moods" and has been rather intimidating and unapproachable. Before all this, he was another one I would usually feel safe approaching about stuff like this.
The thing is, the past few months or so I've been feeling pretty great actually. Haven't been depressed, haven't been thinking of suicide, been doing my best to teach myself programming, been generally feeling better and better... So yeah...
