Preparing for a colonoscopy
Hi Friends,It took me an hour to get out of bed this morning! I've been thinking about the surgery, and realized that with Fibromyalgia, I may be pretty stiff when it is over, besides the usual expectations of pain, etc. So I did some stretching last night, and oh my goodness! This morning my knee was so cramped I was afraid to move. Slow, slower, slower even, it was the only way out of bed. I can now say after two hours of sitting with the hot pad and letting pain killer work, I am feeling good enough for the rest of the morning.I also did some meditating last night. I used to do that all the time, but stopped as I got more tired. I know it helps my emotional healing. We are expecting a snowstorm tonight. We've had our January thaw and now ready for more winter. Tomorrow I get to prepare for the colonoscopy. I get to eat breakfast, and then go the rest of the day with clear liquids and that awful stuff to drink, and Thursday morning we go to the clinic. Any advice on drinking that stuff for four hours? I know I will be near the bathroom, but I'm more worried about getting it all down. Thanks!

I have never had a colonoscopy but I am thinking the \"stuff\" you have to drink is similar to the oral fleet I had to take for my pre-operation routine. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. I gulped it down (3x) with cool water and hung out in my room for the rest of the day. It was effective fairly soon and I was surprised I did not have cramps. I hope it is the same for you. Your discomfort from the Fibromyalgia certainly makes all this more challenging.
Hang in there. We can do it, you can do it.
:-)
Hope all goes well tomorrow for your procedure!! I\'ve heard it\'s not painful at all. My mom\'s friend has to get them fairly often and she said there\'s nothing to it. I guess we should all be having them regularly. Talk to you soon!
Hi Jackie and Dodi,
thanks for your comments and support. I had a hard time with drinking the stuff. Started throwing up and bleeding, so I did not finish it, so am not sure how it will go tomorrow. And then my mom said my dad is going into the hospital for stints for his heart, and if they don\'t work, he may end up with open heart surgery! So, once again family members are in the hospital on the same day, except this time my dad and I will be in the same one. God sure works powerfully! I am exhausted, so I\'m going to bed, and will write when I can get back to the computer, hopefully tomorrow night or Friday.
Take care of yourselves, and Dodi, I am feeling for you! Prayers to both of you sisters!
