Pregnant Woman Assulted In conway County PA

CONWAY A Conway man has been charged with recently assaulting a pregnant woman who is the mother of two of his daughters.
Authorities on Tuesday delivered a subpoena on charges of simple assault and harassment to Joseph Paul Kachmar, 32, of 1503 N. Second Ave., Second Floor. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 12.

Conway police said they were contacted Jan. 5 by Stephanie Plum, no age or address given, who told them Kachmar, who is an ex-boyfriend and has custody of their daughters because she does not have a permanent address, attacked her while she was visiting his apartment to see the children.
Plum told police she was giving her youngest daughter a bath between midnight and 12:30 a.m. Jan. 4 and started to leave the bathroom to get a towel when Kachmar pushed her twice. She said she pushed him back and kneed him in the leg, and he responded by kicking her in the stomach twice, according to the report. Plum reported she was about 5 weeks pregnant at the time.
Police said Plum told them she hunched over from the blows, but then went back to bathing her 3-year-old daughter and stayed the rest of the night because she was worried she might not be able to see her children if she contacted police.
However, Plum said she went to Heritage Valley Beaver hospital in the morning to get checked out and was told she suffered some internal bleeding in her abdominal wall and around the unborn child.
Plum, who has been staying at the home of her current boyfriends mother, said she then decided to pursue charges against Kachmar. After reviewing the case with the Beaver County district attorneys office, borough police filed the charges on Monday and issued a summons for Kachmar.
