Our indoor & outdoor learning environments are set up for the children to explore and discover, and for toddlers this means supporting them to learn through movement such as climbing, balancing, jumping and dancing! Children are invited to enjoy morning tea, before enjoying more of our learning program through drawing, painting and singing songs. Preschool-aged children have a dedicated floor, entrance, and garden at our childcare centre in West Pennant Hills. This space offers shaded areas for quiet reflection, engaging environments for hands-on learning, and opportunities to grow vegetables and herbs—building an early awareness of sustainability. If you are visiting the Centre please support the health and wellbeing of your family, and our children in care, and our educators by restricting your tour to 2 visitors per family. Please bring your valid identity document to verify your identity during the tour visit. The centre has a great home like feel and the team is very friendly and I love the care provided to my child. We understand that routines at home vary, so if throughout the day, we notice children look tired, food will be provided.
It is designed to ensure quality and consistency in the delivery of early childhood education programs across all early childhood settings. It is essential to involve our entire community in this, especially children from a young age. Flowers are truly the perfect gift regardless of the occasion, nothing says I love you like one dozen red roses or “welcome to a new baby” like a beautiful bunch of flowers. Thompsons Corner is named after Andrew Thompson (1773–1810), a convict (see Scotland Island), who received a grant of 100 acres (0.40 km2) in 1796 opposite the signal station in Pennant Hills. Workmen on the railway from Strathfield to Hornsby established a camp and stores depot there in about 1890. During Lachlan Macquarie's governorship (1810–1821), a timbersawing establishment stood near today's Thompsons Corner. In those early days the pit-sawyers roamed the countryside, and the saw pits were set up at various places close to forest areas. In the early 1990s, one of the last mills was demolished, having stood at the bottom of Hill Road.
Our formal preschool program runs from 9.30am to 3.00pm with a variety of learning centre and fun free-time activities available from 7.30am to 9.30am and after 3.00pm until home time. Yes, it is planned to be available for all primary children, with priority to be given to children currently enrolled at Blue Gum. Offered between 3 and 6pm each day and during term breaks, run onsite by Blue Gum educators. For Preschool children who would benefit from, or need to attend for a longer day, we ask you enrol your child in our full day program. This offers you the greatest flexibility with start and finish times, between 8am and 6pm. Eligible families can apply for Child Care Subsidy for Preschool and our Outside School Hours Care.
Breakfast time is available & families are welcome to stay and enjoy with the children. This is also a great chance for conversation to share what is important and how your baby’s night at home was. Equally important, we support social development—helping children learn how to follow routines, share with others, and build independence.
