Post Surgery

Well here I am.
Where do I start.  1st, they were gonna keep me in for abt 2-3 days, then they were going to just keep me over night, then they decided to send me home that evening.  So away we went.  Things went downhill real fast from there.  I had severe pain issues & topped it off with nausea & gas bloting issues.  By early next afternoon I called the surgeon's office & off we went back to his clinic at the hospital.  He had given me a Tylenol 3 prescription but I cannot tolerate them at all & by this time the whole picture had gotten way way out of control.
So by Wed afternoon I was admitted for a few days.  Every nurse I dealt with in the ward I was placed in totally said that they really should not have sent me home in the first place.  What didn't help things was my other conditions & that I was not in the strongest shape going into the operation to begin with.  They started giving me a more powerful anti nausea & a pain killer called Percocept.  By Wed evening they tried brining me some clear fluids, well, the thought of trying to get anything down my throat was revolting.  I did start to nibble a bit on Thursday.  They were going to send me home Thurs evening but the surgeon was convinced by the hospital staff that I shd stay Thurs night just to see if I could have one good relatively pain & nausea free night.  The night was, well, 50/50 I guess but home I went the next day.
Life is going on I think.  Baby steps & slowly but at least going on right.  Darn it though, my energy level is almost non existent.  My mid section muscle areas still feel like they've been kicked by a mule.  My biggest frustration - FOOD. I really do think that if I didn't need to eat I might not even bother.  Really having a hard time eating somehow, frustrating or what darn it all.
I think I need to either post something on DS or search around the internet for post gb surgery diet advice and/or issues.  I'd just really like to see what others experienced or things they did that maybe helped things along in a positive note.
Rusters - oh wise friend - please feel free to give me any thoughts or knowledge or comments you might have on this or for that fact if you know of any websites or info feel free to let me know.
I guess thats abt it for now.  I really did miss you guys over those few days & it feels good to be connected again.
I hope this day finds everyone well & in a happy place.
Oh yea, if anyone wants an extra snow storm I'd sure love to give ours away.

Hi Kitty,

Happy, To Hear You Are At Home Now !

It\'s Really Sad, Why They Seem To Rush
People Out Of These Hospitals So Very Fast,
That Is What These Hospitals Are For.

I Will Certainly Be Keeping You In My Thoughts And Prayers.

Take Care,

Love Ya, ~Barbara

Oh Kitty, I\'m so sorry you had all these issues.....Well, at least it\'s behind you now...I also googled and there isn\'t alot out there on diets. Maybe I\'m lucky because we are eating lower fat, more fruits and vegs and other stuff in moderation (less prepared meals).... more protein too to fill you up.

There is a DS support group here so I hope they can help you. Feel free to bounce stuffs. I (knock on wood) have had very little trouble with diet. The only (gross) thing is (TMI) that I notice my bowel movements are very stinky and think that may be because of the bile going straight into my intestives, without the gallbladder rationing the amount.... TMI I know..... So, slow and steady.....I\'d heard about the gas pain in the shoulders, etc. Did you have the laporoscopic surgery? Keep us posted...tomorrow will be better and you\'ll get a little stronger. xxoo

Hi Kitty my word what a long road you travelled on when you went to the hospital, and it is not on that they let you out early. As you had surgery. They should have at least kept you over night and see how you were. Then maybe let you go home the next day. Sounds like it was such a rush, but I am glad you are ok and I am thinking about you. Hugs xxx

Hi Hon,
Hope you are feeling stronger every day.
Did you have Laparoscopic? It may take a while to heal up but I felt much better for it, no constant stomach and abdomen pain.
I will be praying for you.
Love to you always

Kitty, I hope you are starting to feel better. I have forgotten to check my emails lately and hadn\'t realized I\'d been away for so long.

Have you tried juicing or smoothies? You can add a protein powder to make it a complete meal, until things get back to normal. Take it slow and steady.....I didn\'t have any digestive issues after I had my gallbladder out.

I really hope things settle down soon!

Peace love and joy

I\'m so glad to hear from you, but sad that you are going through such a difficult recovery. I am very hopeful, though, that it will blow over (along with the storm) very soon! Please be patient if you can : ) and think of smoother days ahead. What am I saying? you are the most patient person I know. lol

sending you hugs and sending up prayers for easier days ahead my friend. God bless you, xoxox, m
