post relapse

I am 2 days sober again, and I am starting to feel somewhat better,  I now realize what my trigger was, when I saw the counselor I had to once again explain the situation of my abuse as a child.  It seems every time I have to relive it, I get anxious and turn to alcohol.  It was recommended to focus first on the addiction part and put the abuse aspect on the back burner. Wish me luck!

Hey I just read your journal. I am back on day 3 of sobriety after going to see my psychiatrist, I picked up a can which turned into 1 1/2 botttles of wine.. I find going to see my psychiatrist can be a trigger as well because they start asking questions about the past or at least remind me of it. I think putting the abuse on the backburner is a great idea. I am doing the same as I have a lot of shame and regrets about my past which I need to stop focusing on as well.

Thanks for the feedback, I don\'t like to question a professional when they are trying to help but in this situation I felt I needed to let her know that talking about that will trigger things. I think a person should always speak up when it comes to their care and well being.
