Post Mothers' Day

Don't know who reading this is familiar with Gastritis, but it is terrible!  I was diagnosed with it about eight years ago (also GERD and hiatial hernia). The pix from the scope looked like raw hamburger!  The symptoms, severe pain, cramps and inability to eat any food known to man!
Lately I got stupid.  I wanted to diet/cleanse on liquids. I used V8 juice.  I made smoothies with fruit and added flax meal and Chia seeds.  I don't know if one or more caused my flare-up.
My flare-up began two weeks ago.  I managed to function - somewhat.  I ate and drank only bland stuff.  Then I did a silly project for a Red Hat function, attended and ate the lunch provided.  That was stupid!  Next day the pain was so severe I was in bed all day and trying to decide if I needed to go to the hospital.  I chose not to.  Next day I began taking Aloe Vera juice and Airborne.  Diet became anything soft and gentle, usually carbs.  So much for the diet!
I seemed to be improving a bit, so went along out to breakfast on Mothers' Day.  Ate scrambled eggs, grits and a biscuit with honey.  Decaf coffee.  Had Chinese take-out for lunch - Lo Mein.  Nothing seemed to make me worse.  I'm still in pain, but on the scale it is about a four, as opposed to the previous ten.
Yesterday, Mothers' Day, would have been my mother's birthday.  I lost her in 2004.  I miss her and hope she is happy.
My far away (Utah) daughter sent me a wonderful box of gifts for Mothers' Day and sent me a message.  My youngest son only sent me a text.  Oldest son called and texted.  Two granddaughters sent me wishes, too.  So, all in all, it was a nice day.
My DH is struggling.  He's had lots of pain, muscle spasms and wobbliness.  Additionally he seems to be having trouble concentrating, comprehending and hearing.  He tries really hard and gets frustrated.
I wish someone had a magic wand to touch us and make everything better.  Meanwhile I just would appreciate any suggestions that could be offered, especially for any natural remedies or food I could safely eat.
(((HUGS))) Jan

Check with your Dr.s nurse for a lost of foods to avaoid. This is your best bet for safety:)

Rememer everything in moderation. Extreems on any end of things can be bad. Small meals and a balanced diet, is my best advise.

Hang in there:))

Thanx. No, I haven\'t touched any V8 in two weeks now, and probably never will again! Those who have never had gastritis, just have no idea how painful it really is. I have a brother-in-law who is a doctor and when we ate with him Mothers\' Day morning he warned me about how gastritis is one of the precursors of stomach cancer. I knew GERD (which I also have) is one of those that come before esophageal cancer. Gee.

You know, sometimes when the body attacks it is giving us fair warning. If you change your eating habits now you may ward off any further possibilites of cancer. Good luck, Jan! Sending you love and hugs!
