Post-Birthday Thoughts
Well, it was my 46th birthday yesterday. No big celebration, except that I ate myself silly & probably shouldn't have done that! But whatever...back to exercise!
I got lots of nice wishes on Facebook & posted a celebratory video ("Let's Get It Started" by the Black-Eyed Peas) & am looking forward in my life. Not to it, but "in" it. In other words, I'm not wallowing in the past or holding on to present worries. I'm just thinking, what can I do next?
2 weeks ago, my son tried emotionally bullying me. He wanted me to help him wash his hair, which I have no problem with. My problem was that he was treating me like crap & I was not going to take that, so I just walked out of the bathroom. And he was like, "if you're not going to wash my hair, I won't take a shower!" So guess who smells...! But you know, it's his responsibility really, not mine. I washed my hair!
I had emailed the center to see if I could get an appointment with them & to give them an update. I haven't heard anything back yet. It may sound mean, but I'm getting to a point where I don't care anymore. Honestly, I have done everything I can do with my son. I can't motivate him or make him want to try. He has to want it himself. It's high time he take responsibility for himself. That's growing up.
So although I'm sad about & disappointed in my son, I'm not letting it destroy my life. I have some positive things going on & I'm going to be proud of them! I've cancelled useless magazine subscriptions, gave away some things I'm never ever going to use...I guess you could say I'm letting go of the things that are dragging me down! So that's a good thing.
Financially, we've had some unexpected car expenses. But the good news is that it hasn't set us back, it merely slowed us down. That, I think, is progress!
Oh, yeah, and I got together with my sister for coffee this past Monday (I was off from work). We actually had a pleasant adult time! And she's been kind of nice to me online lately. Of course, the other shoe could drop at any time, but I'll take what I can get!
So that's the latest: things are snapping into place it seems.
