Port removed yesterday
The anticipation was far worse than the actual event. Except for a small sting with the Novacaine shots, it was painless. Am a bit sore this a.m. but nothing an ibuprofin won't take care of....Hopefully there will be minimal scarring and I won't have to wear turtlenecks all summer:-) The port itself was rather pretty, all bright purple and shaped like a heart. A Purple Heart. Wounded in battle. How appropriate for all of us dealing with this illness. I say prayers of thanksgiving for everyone on this site and for our continued strength and recovery.

Hi Sally,
Is it not just the best feeling when they remove the port and you can say to yourself..okay, another step in the right direction to the rest of my life? I was so thrilled to have it removed while hoping never to have to have another implanted. All of these steps on our journies road bring us to good health. Congrats to you, we are members of such a lucky group.
Take care,
Pat
