Pornography, Rape and Molestation

 Sadly we live in a society that not only embraces pornography, but gives it constitutional protection. My experience in the social sector is that 1 out of 2 people see pornography  as  harmless and or serving a social purpose. So just how harmless is it really? Can I accuse pornographers of being of good social conscience? Can I accuse them of having moral restraint....any restraint? Can I at least accuse them of policing themselves with even a modicum of respect for decency with respect for not preying on the weak minded? I come up with a NO, each time. So why are they deserving of protection with our tax dollars? Adult pornography is cheap and easy to produce, with a profit margin most businesses can only dream of. So where do all these profit's  go? Well, child pornography is far to costly to produce and market as a stand alone business. Seclusion and protection is needed, witnesses need to be disposed of, Judges, Police and Politicians need to be paid to turn their heads as well as expensive legal council is needed to design a smokescreen that makes it seemingly impossible to trace the source. Even getting  the  final product to the customer is expensive and clandestine. Factor in the damage done to families and certainly young children and I have to ask again, How harmless is  pornography? *"It is estimated that 100,000 children born this year will be molested, by their fathers".  This is an astounding number on it's own but especially when even 1 case is not acceptable. Layer that with the  molestations that will be  committed by extended family and/or friends of  family and adult rape. Can we really believe that an industry that portrays rape, molestation and abuse as entertainment and caters to the fantasies of sick minds with no remorse or financial liability except for the most outrageous of violations, is not the backbone of child pornography?  There are towns now that are successfully holding Gang's and their members  financially liable for the damage that their presence has caused to their local economy. Very creative  and incisive thinking on their part, but is the gang problem more important than a child who will be forever tarnished and broken as a result of child pornography? I understand that a sick mind is a sick mind regardless of what material is available to them to feed their fantasies, but pornography does have a financial responsibility for desensitizing people to moral behavior and giving molesters and rapists a sense of  security, which in turn has caused  child abuse to flourish. Some argue that "if it keeps the perv in front of their computer instead of chasing kids or raping women, let it be". That argument does not hold water though, since the numbers prove that rape and child molestation are  ever increasing  and not just because of  the  ratio of population to incident. Most alcoholics will at least admit that one drink is the catylist that leads to the bottom of the bottle and when they no longer find satisfaction there.......it is off to something stronger and they are no longer in control of what and how, at that point. How does pornography end up with the seal of approval and rate as more sacred than the right of a smoker to subject people to secondhand smoke? I fail to see the Halo in either case. Entities that produce and publish pornography should bear the  liability of the damage they cause, especially to  the  innocent victim's of pornography's clientele.  Statistic's show that in almost every case of rape and molestation, pornography will also be found in the possession  of  the perpetrator. The connection is far too close and proven to overlook culpability and liability on the part of pornographer's. Too often, the victim is not financially able to seek and receive help in recovery or better said.........  managing  their "new normal". Baring the financial weight of processing and undoing the damage done by their abuser is yet another slap in the face to the child's self worth and hope for a life with happiness and a positive future. Add to that, that once employed, the victim's of abuse will be sending tax dollars to the government to protect the industry that all but destroyed them. How, does that make sense? If the  financial liability proves to be too overwhelming for  pornographer's, perhaps they will move on to something less lucrative and destructive. To those that think doing nothing is the way to go, I love to respond with Dr.Phil's thoughts........  "you've tried it your way, how's that working?"

Ashley was imprisoned and raped daily, sometimes repeatedly and with her mother's knowledge of this sick crime, from the age of 5 and continuing for 13 years and also causing her 4 pregnancies. Just how do you wrap your head around that, if you have any conscience, at all? Another sad note is under the guise of anonymity, so many people attacked and pointed blame at Ashley for her terrible ordeal as they commented online to this tragedy. If, there is any positive in this, it is the incentive to heal because it only people like us that know and understand the  horror of abuse that will ever make an effort to demand and cause changes!
