Poor Role Models

October 2, 2012
I stopped by my parent’s house on Tuesday after therapy I went to visit my mom. When I got there my dad was sitting in the recliner. I asked what you doing home. He says to me I'm retired. I said when did you decide this. He said he decided it that morning. Some now I have a conversation with my mom in the kitchen. I asked my mom, when did dad decide to retire. She looked at me and said HE'S RETIRED WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN? She said I am tired of this BS.
I did the same thing when I came home and there was a new car parked in the driveway. When I come in this else and I said why are your plates on that car he just told me to shut up. My mom had no clue that he bought a car with a $450 a month payment. She went own spin on the windshield.
I've been around 37 of those 45 years and my dad never tells my mom, my sister, but I anything. When his mother passed away, I found out because my cousin posted it on Facebook. But he told he called my sister-in-law, and never called to tell me.
This is why I have no clue and never how to be in a healthy relationship. To me, whatever comes out of the man's mouth is a lie, or at least a half-truth. This is why all the matter how much my boyfriend tells me how much he loves me they still have doubts. I'm so grateful to have CODA in my life. The first 37 years have been a mirror image of my parent’s unhappy life, and now I'm working on changing learned behaviors.
