Poor Mother
It's after 9:30 a.m. - much later than Mother usually gets up - but she is still in bed. Not asleep but not responsive when I went in and sort of sign-languaged "get up?" When DH took the dog out at 6:30 this morning, she was sitting in the bathroom in her wheelchair, moaning. DH came back up and said he thought I should go down and see what was wrong. I did - but it was just her frustration and sadness over her bladder incontinence. Thought she had wet her briefs and was dreading standing up and getting on the john. I helped her and she wasn't all that wet but we changed the briefs and I helped her back to bed. Not sure how long she had been sitting there but she's been in bed ever since. Not sure what to do at this point...
So frustrating for all of us. We're thinking maybe we'd better get the baby monitor because she sure doesn't call us on the alarm(s) that we have. Has only used the nighttime one once. Wurra, wurra.

Do you think the end could be near or like me do you think this will go on FOREVER????
Poor mom or poor US? I want OUT of this damn jail!
I wish I knew, Trojan... or maybe I don\'t. I think Mother thinks she\'ll live to 99 or ?? but for her sake as well as ours, I do hope NOT. And I\'m sure sorry that your situation is so damned difficult and unending. I know you\'ve been at this longer than I have so my heart goes out to you.
Do they have MedicAID where you live? If so, it is possible that your Mom could go on into a nursing home when her own resources are exhausted. Just a thought.
Long story about the finances The short answer is we hired a lawyer at the beginning of all this and she put a financial plan in place that should make it unlikely for us to have to spend down my parent\'s investments. So for as long as possible we chose to do private pay. Mom is not sick enough to need a nursing home.
I don\'t mean to seem harsh to your troubles. My thinking gets selfish at times. I just want my life back SO badly.
Having this come on so suddenly has to be devastating for your Mom. Thank goodness for our Husbands! We had better take REALLY good care of them!
