Polycystic Kidney Info I learned so far

Well my Polycystic Kidney Disease runs strong in my family.  My grandma had it, she was adopted from a Cherokee tribe.  She lived well into her 80's and had 13 children.  She was a toughy.  But now the male children who had Polycystic Kidney Disease seem to have it alot harder than the females.
All I know is that we who already have PKD were developing it in uterine.  There are switches that go on in each gene as we are being developed; like when its time for your heart to form, a gene will click on and form your heart, and then click off in completion.  The same for each gene for each organ.  So then it comes time for the gene to click on to form the kidneys, which it does and it forms the kidneys, but then it never shuts off.
It's called the PDK1 and PKD2 gene, it feeds off the Tyrosine-phosphorylated protein, which is called cytokine.  So if you want to slow that darn cytokine cell down these foods were shown to inhibit the growth of these cells; apples, cinnamon, berries, black tea and green tea.  See medical data found on website below:
SummaryFor the purposes of inhibiting ACE and reducing cytokines, the following foods and compounds seem to be the best choices:

·                                 Green tea (ACE inhibitor, reduces cytokines)
·                                 Black tea (ACE inhibitor, reduces cytokines)
·                                 Quercetin (possible ACE inhibitor, reduces cytokines)
·                                 Pomegranate juice (ACE inhibitor)
·                                 Red wine (ACE inhibitor)
·                                 Turmeric (reduces cytokines)
·                                 Black pepper (reduces cytokines)
·                                 Raw crushed garlic (reduces cytokines)
·                                 Red palm oil (reduces cytokines)
·                                 Vitamin E (reduces cytokines)
·                                 Coconut oil (reduces cytokines)

The following foods, while beneficial in many other ways, may not be a good idea in terms of reducing cytokine levels:

·                                 Olive oil (may increase cytokines)
·                                 Fish oil (may increase cytokines)
·                                 Chocolate (ACE inhibitor, increases cytokines)

In addition, it seems that vitamin D3 could be on either list, depending on the dosage. Average blood levels of vitamin D may be worse than very low or high levels.
Now as far as Triptolide "Thunder God Vine", it's promising, but not available to you or I.  It is just available to researchers right now as they push forward to find a cure.  You and I cannot mess with ingesting this Chinese Herb because it is highly toxic and deadly, so I shall wait for the next phase of research on this one.
For now, I will continue to take Cucurmin, we already know it's safe and it has been proven to slow the growth of cysts.
Keep your blood pressure down with meds and stay off salt and red meats.  I was going to regular kidney doctors and they were ready to hook me up to a machine.  They said I was stage III renal failure.  I said; Not and started to search for a doctor that was geared more toward the research of Polycystic Kidney Disease.
I found that doctor and he put me through a couple of non-invasive tests and said that I was not at Stage III at all.  I was actually at Stage I 1/2.  So make sure you have a doctor that is fully educated with Polycystic Kidney Disease.  My new doctor put me on a blood pressure med more geared toward high blood pressure due to kidney problems and it is called Losartan.  I take Hydrochlorothiazide as well with that, but it is not always needed, your doctor will know what is best for you.
It is interesting because I just read somewhere that salads are hard on your kidneys, you know, raw vegetables.  Maybe someone out there can share there opinion on that info?  Still researching that.
I remember a few years back a holistic doctor told me to take about 6 serrapeptease with 2 Curcumins each day or something like that, and that will rid me of my cysts.  I was to scared to try it.  But now years later I can see that all the doctors are now talking about Cucurmin and proving that it works to slow down cyst growth so now I wish I had tried it earlier.  I have to search in my files for the actual recipe that previous doc gave me and if I find it I will share with you.
It's hard to be a gineau pig on yourself, kinda scary for me anyway.  So,  remember to drink lots of water...make sure it's pure.  Whatever you're drinking, test it.  Try getting a water filter for your kitchen sink as well so you can cook your foods in pure water as well.  Try to eat only organic foods if you can.  The last thing your kidneys need is pesticides, etc. to clean out.  No alcohol either, way to hard on kidneys as well.  Although, I like to have a Marguerita once in a blue moon.  I want to be able to live a little, in moderation.
I remember my Dad to me no more football.  I was a bit of a tomboy before I grew up.  I eventually went to modeling school and canned the gum chewing.  :)  Anyway, Dad did not want me to play football because I could get accidentally hit in my back and did not want to burst a cyst, this would not be good, it could cause infection, sooooo.  I was wild and free (in a good way) until I found out I had this stinking disease.  But I try to live my life the best I can.  Live in moderation.  What is the since in living if you live your life in fear.
So I will continue to live and do research at times.  I usually start my searches on anything new on Polycystic Kidney Disease every 6 months or so.  Everytime I research I always find something new with the scientific data to back it up so that is promising.
I decided to join this website to find others like me to see if they have any data to share as well.  Plus I can find true friends here.  It seems when I make regular friends and then I get close to them and share my kidney dilemna I never here from them again.  I always wondered why until one day, I was having lunch with yet another new girlfriend; her name was Cindy.  I shared my kidney story with her, she was a bit of an outspoken girl, anyway I shared my story with her and she said; "Oh, so that is why you are my friend, so I can give you a kidney when you need it".  I was shocked!  I said; "What"?  "OMG, no, not at all".  That thought never entered my mind, never.  But apparently it does enter the minds of others, which I never really thought about?  Anyway, bummer....although she states that she was kidding, I'm afraid to call her now.
So lesson learned for me there was not to tell any other future friends about my Polycystic Kidney Disease.  But I would like some friends that I can talk to once in awhile about it so here I am, on a webpage with people who share my fate.
So I hope some of the medical info and research data i found has helped someone out there just a little.  Hopefully there is info that you can share back.  Have a beautiful day......
Oh and P.S....There is one last thing I learned that I wanted to share.  Have you ever noticed that there a fruits and vegetables that are shaped like our organs.  For example; the Pomegranite when cut open looks like the inside of our hearts and Pomegranites are really good for our hearts.  Walnuts look like our brains and walnuts are really good for Altzeihmers and keeping you brain healthy and so on.  Well they say the kidney bean, which of course, is shaped like a kidney is suppose to be good for the health of our kidneys.  Interesting, isn't it?
Anyway.......Be good......Stay healthy.......
Bye for now
