Poem that my son's girlfriend wrote......
My oldest son took the loss of Abby pretty hard and wish he could have said goodbye. I regret so much that I didn't wait for him to come home (he was out of town). His girlfriend wrote a poem in her poetry class that is how he feels about the loss and I wanted to share. I cry every time I read this because it breaks my heart that he is hurting so bad over the loss of Abby. He is 23 and does not show his emotions or let people know how much he is hurting.
You were my companion and my friend.
You were special no matter what they said.
I loved you when we first met and now that you've gone
the love I have for you will live on.
It's hard to express the pain that I feel
now that you've gone. All I seem to feel
at this moment is a hollow heart and the tears that
I wish to stop. But I can't seem to control myself.
I still can't accept the truth; that you've moved on
without me seeing you or even saying goodbye.
That's the truth that hurts me the most.
The reason why my heart aches. But as much
as tears roll down my eyes and my heart screams inside;
the only thing that seems to keep playing in my mind
were the memories we shared and the joy you brought to me
through the rain and shine. And although you have left me physically
and that kills my heart; the laughter and the joy and the memories we shared
will always live on. As much as I hurt right now; I will always remember
the day when we were both young and full of life.
She put this on a little card for me to put on the wood stove with Abby's other things. On the back it says You will be missed, but never forgotten from our hearts. Rest in peace dear friend.

What a beautiful poem and sentiment. I, too, am worried about my older son as he\'s been holding everything in, since Lady\'s passing. Lady was \'his buddy\' from the day we brought her home, even though I was the Momma who took care of her. She slept with me, but played with him. We had her from the time he was 13 to 29...She was his company when he came home from school... I try to talk about her, saying things like Lady liked this or Lady did that (nothing negative) and he just smiles. I sure wish I knew what he was feeling inside...
My oldest son was very close to Abby, he was 10 when we brought her into our home. He played with her all the time and Abby thought she was a lap dog and was also getting in his lap. She would sleep with me most of the time but sometimes went and got in bed with him. When my 3 boys would get into a physical fight Abby would nip at the other boys to protect my older son. He did cry when I told him that Abby was no longer with us. I still wish I had waited for the weekend when he came home. All my boys wanted to be there, I messed up and can\'t forgive myself.
thats beautiful,it explains it all beautifully.its so sad,i hope your son feels better soon,he is not alone xx
