Piano Concert

I got a call from the Asst. Activity Director of the local nursing home today and they had no-one to provide music for the residents today so, they called me.  I went out and did an hour concert for them.  I normally do this for them on a monthly basis anyway but, whoever was supposed to be there today, wasn't there.
I feel honored to do this for these folks.  Many of them I have known for years.  It doesn't take that much time out of my day to hopefully bring some enjoyment and happiness to these folks.  They sing along when they know a song and they make requests from time to time.  We have a lot of fun.
I used my gift of music for many years in the tavens, bars, and nightclubs.  I did this as regular as 6 nights a week, before I became a Christian.  Now, I am blessed to do this for others who otherwise may never have a chance to hear live piano playing.
What was so different today was, that my ex was there and sat through the entire concert.  After I had finished, she came to me, shook my hand and said "I really enjoyed hearing you play, I haven't heard you in so many years."  She then got tears in her eyes.  I thanked her and told her I was glad she enjoyed the concert.
That kind of got to me. I certainly never expected that.
