Britain's Prince William holds his son George Alexander Louis outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital before leaving with Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, in central London on July 23, 2013.

Kate gave birth to the couple's first child, who is third in line to the British throne, on Monday afternoon, ending weeks of feverish anticipation about the arrival of the royal baby.

"Meet His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge!"

Kate Middleton and Prince William revealed their baby name via a statement through Kensington Palace on Wednesday, only two days after Middleton gave birth. The statement read:   “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis.

The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.”

The patron saint of England was also named George (and it was a bookie top pick) however, it has personal meaning, too.   The couple may be paying respect to Queen Elizabeth's late father George IV.    The paper also notes that George means "farmer" or "earth worker" and in 2011, it was the 12th most popular name in England.    What's more, there has been only one other Prince of Cambridge and his name was also George.
For now, the little one will be known as Prince George of Cambridge, but that may change once he grows up and becomes king.   King Albert (called "Bertie" by his family) payed respect to his father George V by taking his name when he took the throne.
The baby’s middle name holds significance too the name Louis was likely chosen to commemorate Lord Louis Mountbatten, a close friend and mentor of Prince Charles who was assassinated by Irish terrorists in 1979."

Baby George will also only have three names, just like Prince William and Prince Charles.

i did the same thing when diana had william and the whole diana and charles thing, clippings on newspaper from the national enquirer. i had collected them in a folder, and i had the clippings until 1985. that is how archaic i am. i used to have a magnetic (glue) photo album with news clippings that i considered important back then and i intended to do the same with the diana stuff. later on i read the rags and still had some of the stuff, but no scrapbooking of it. the more i moved different places the less of that kind of stuff i kept. so much easier putting it on here, except that even computers crash and lose info and c claims, disks and flashdrives go bad as well. i\'m starting to see why old and properly preserved documents and photos and art are important.

I always love baby pics! And I\'m happy that Kate showed off her belly, too. That\'s what women who have babies look like! Still catching up with you! *HUGS*
