HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to whoever celebrates it.
got a new garbage can delivered today from the county. its very pretty. went to the church sale and picked up pippi longstocking books, a polish cookbook for k, and a book on the holocaust called "four perfect pebbles". stopped at my office (of all places) to fax out some stuff and then ran out of energy. so much for me.
ran into adr at the church and she wants me to go to the pastor/father's homilies (catholic word for small sermon) she says they are actually really good. there's a lot of changes over there lately and the guy rn, who studied to be a priest and then married instead was in debating mode about whether they should switch churches because of the change in music, if the crowd was worth it and sales for the chruch store. i think the heat is getting to people, so adr went in the back to hide by where i was and chat. she is from hasbrouck heights, nj originally, which she says is the mafia home of people in business in hackensack, nj. never even realized she was from there. i thought she was from charlotte, nc, but that was afterthat and she says charlotte is uppity because its the second largest area for banking (nyc is #1 for banking in usa). when they moved to nc from nj, they had a huge house and then her first husband lost his job and they downsized and they lost all their uppity friends. i was stunned. she's so easygoing you'd never guess. so they sold again and moved to north florida to a normal sized house and bought for cash, got normal jobs (and a divorce). adr used to teach pre-school and she just went back to it part time recently. what a mess. all i knew was that she was a widow. but that was hub #2. shows what i know. i think she is concerned because her daughter who lives with her and travels (to exotic places like egypt and the orient and turkey) every summer, (she is a teacher, so she has summers off) is seeing an engineer from south florida, who makes in the six figures and has the same attitude as people from charlotte. the guy is mexican. i'm like, if your daughter is enjoying it. but i think she thinks it will be a disaster, like her first marriage, if the marriage/relationship is dependent on a lifestyle with money attached to it, it can become very fragile. plus south florida is nowhere near here...always messes.
took a walk around the block looking for ubu, who appeared finally, that was good, i get very upset when they are missing and ubu is ten years old now, so i worry now. i didn't even KNOW to worry ten years ago. what a difference. now i know about lunatics and almost wish i didn't. discovered the kitten that jumped out the window is showing up nightly for food and residing at the house on the corner where big used to like to go five years ago. hope its okay there, i didn't see it today, but could hear it yesterday meowing and running from here the night before. w told me the new guy named james was already COMPLAINING that i was looking for my cat on their street (now i'll have to worry that they will do something? he has two cats himself and that apartment complex (its only six units) doesn't even allow cats (there shouldn't even BE apartments in an area like this). he really needs to move. he doesn't like any noise AT ALL even during the day. either wear earplugs or move to an area where there is acreage, like 20 acres.
i'm at the house up north. the canal is totally quiet, which i would never expect on a holiday. hoping the kids will come up with something for j, he actually deserves it. we made dececco penne pasta today, which is excellent. akj was also here and not even planning a card for his parents even though he lives at their house. he says he helps them clean all the time and he thinks that is enough. wth? i think he thought we'd be grilling lobster tails, and we didn't do that this time. mostly because we made escargot at k's (k made it and i bought it, totally worth it by the way, the sauce was made with brandy and fabulous).
the kids went fishing today on the boat, all three. for them, its a final summer weekend?! i never looked at it that way. have vacation coming up and camp for a. school starts for a at the beginning of august and every year that throws me as well, i still haven't adjusted - college also starts in august, but b is far away for that (b still does the go for one semester full time thing).
i prefer longer summers. in europe school starts in october. now that is a nice long summer. lol.

Great rambling story. :-))
Loved it.
the himalayan kittie showed up last night in the rain, so i guess that is how that is going to go. and saw lorn who isn\'t doing well, since his back surgery. he wanted to still keep the silver declaw and its like HOW. he says he can\'t even water the lawn - movement in anyway is HELL for him and its six months since his surgery. omg! so sad. k says one in three end up all screwy from back surgery.
today, i am still waiting on the landscaper, 6/21/13. its saturday. he should have been here yesterday and a week ago. the new one from across the street offered to mow it with his ride on mower for $20. today offer only. the estate across the street has an acre. its worth it for him because its his only account up here, all the rest are an hour south of here. so why keep it. would love to know what that woman pays him. my guess is $100 for a one acre lawn and edging, as 1/4 acre is $25, that is what we pay (sometimes $20, they all complain as we have a lot of edging because there is a garden and then six feet around the house and back of the house. its built on a grassy ocean dune, a lot of the land over here, was once grassy ocean dunes, 75 years ago or more. now you can hardly tell except that its slopey.
i expected a bill and the lawn done when i got to the house down south yesterday. was very pissed to see it still undone. so hard to find a decent landscaper. maybe i\'ll learn to edge as exercise and weed whack? and start using the woman across the streets landscapers to ride over with their mower and mow for $20, though this new guy claims he\'ll do it all for even less than $25 if its bi-weekly. its tiresome. this is why people stop using pros and just start mowing themselves. still want to get a reel to reel mower, but EVERYONE insists it will never work on our type of lawn and that they only work on flat surfaces not on lawns with slopes. who knows.
today is 6/23/13, got home last night and lawn guy finally did the lawn - love the smell and look of freshly cut lawn, especially when its done professionally and looks so pretty and neat and trim -- but didn\'t leave a bill. the guy at work that sabotages and lies all the time, is after the new guys. he is stealing pens. if i didn\'t keep private files on people, i wouldn\'t even pick up on that. he has done this with EVERY new guy we have had. what a pain in the ass. if he wasn\'t reliable (showing up at work) better off without him. he also backstabs. what a pain in the ass. puts a knot in my stomach. how the hell do people teach children or borderline special ed and personality disorder adults, all day - i\'d have all kinds of illnesses just from being around this kind of shit on a daily basis. no wonder there used to be corporal punishment. problem if you go after the wrong one though.
