PLEASE WATCH THE SOLAR ECLIPSE!!!

"Everybody isn't your friend.  Just because they hang around you and laugh with you doesn't mean they are for you [on your side.]    Just because they say they got your back, doesn't mean they won't stab you in it.

People pretend well.  Jealousy sometimes doesn't live far - know your circle.   At the end of the day, REAL SITUATIONS expose fake people, so pay attention."

reminds me of the saying "you go to school to learn and NOTHING ELSE.    YOU PLAY SPORTS to make friends"  on a playing field, you get to see who is who, who you can trust, who practices, who shows up, who is there for you ... sports are perfect for that.  in real life, tooooo many people are good actors.  they should all move to hollywood, california.  its amazing how many people live like that.  being polite is one thing, but being a total fake is a whole other thing.  or from desiderata poem "never feign affection."   soooo true.

eating halloween cupcakes and sipping hot coffee, it is POURING RAIN  and only 60 degrees outside.  omg!  i have the heat going as well, all day long, at 80.

had my favorite spagetti sauce, mids italian sausage on two slices of bread for lunch and a salad.

cleaned up a bit from the animals and am reading a new book.   broadcaster, andy rooney's memoir called "the war" about his time in world war 2.   he bashes peacetime career mililtary BIG TIME, calls them all a bunch of forest gumps and basically states there shouldn't be ANY peacetime career military at all.  find a real job - even if you ARE bad at everything (which is what he infers career military people basically are).

i am FOR mandatory military for both sexes to get all the survivalist training for the entire population like they have in most civilized countries and i am sure he is right about a skeleton crew career peacetime military.  we really pay those guys a fortune and FOR WHAT?  he has a lot of examples and makes fun of them the entire time he writes - along with stalog 17, which was written by a friend of his who actually WAS a prisoner of war for several years (hogan's heroes is based on it and they made a movie out of it before that).   war is terrible.   he infers viet nam was worse than ww2, though, because during viet nam the soldiers had no relief from the possibility of being hit and killed, and that creates permanent psychological problems and physical/biological changes in the human brain.

in normal war, you are actually only in danger and fighting 60 days out of the entire year.  in viet nam they were fighting 250 days out of the year.  wtf?  didn't anyone realize what was being done to those guys.  why didn't they send them over for just 60 days, if the fighting was so bad? wth?    the only comparison to that kind of constant terror, is a prisoner of war or an abused spouse or abused child - they live through the same psychological damage of daily abuse with no way out and no end in sight.

Missed the eclipse! DRAT! Hubby isn\'t home today but knew about it...maybe he saw something!

No, everyone isn\'t your friend. I\'m 64. They say that at my age if you have two really close friends, that have been there there through thick and thin for you your whole life....that you are truly blessed.

Well, I have more than one or two of those dear friends, and I\'ll tell ya, as you get older you really appreciate those gal pals!! My mom always told me \"boys will come and go. don\'t be fickle/////have lots of girlfriends, cuz those are the people that will be with you to the end.

She was right!!!!

lol. have heard that, at the end of your life if you have two good friends left, you are blessed. i totally get that now, but a lot of that is because so many in your life will die as you go along. a woman from church, her neighbor just died, age 66. she lives two blocks from here. no one expected it. 66, isn\'t that old. she had two cats and one outdoor cat and two relatives left, a niece and a niece once removed (the niece\'s niece, however you say that). its a mess. she is hoping her daughter west of here will take the outdoor cat (who is left actually from a man who ided a couple of years ago that this woman made friends with and fed). this is florida, a lot of people die and a lot of people have friends that are older than them - or maybe that is everywhere? though i think the joke, you know you are from south florida if....lists the older generation as one of the things.

in the arts, the saying is, you really only need ONE good friend, one gay male. i\'ve never tried that. one of my friends from college swore by it. she hung out with her gay male friend allll the time, and to most bigger functions, that is who went with her and she went with him to his. she never understood why people bother having all these more complicated relationship. maybe she was right - they were friends for decades. whatever works.

OH, and a P.S. You cannot be having your heat on at 80!!!!! That is not normal. I didn\'t have heat set to 80 when it snowed 10 years ago!

I feel for your family....they must be sweltering. Do they not complain? I sure as heck would. :-)

That is really hot!! I hope they have fans.

at the house up north i only get away with that level of heat in certain rooms. i also keep a space heater in the house by the beach, which is \"green\" for me. (LOVE being green by the way. the homeo stasis thing that humans lived for thousands of years, IS better....warmer by the fire or warm room and then cooler by being in the next one....all rooms the same, i don\'t think is healthy. interesting to watch the animals and see what rooms they prefer and whom...some seem to just prefer a certain room and others, i think are looking for a temperature, which is what i would do if i were them.
