Anna Leonowens (The real Anna)
watching rex harrison in anna and the king of siam,1946 (with irene dunne, which makes it really great, i'm a fan of irene dunne) and now the ghost and mrs muir, 1947 (with gene tierney) which is classic and one of my favorite movies.
its the only version of the king and i that i like. excellent. haven't seen this since i was a really little kid (makes me want to paint a mural of my life like lady thiang has on her wall paper). the 1946 version at least covers the book (memoir) anna and the king somewhat closely and the movie and play versions after 1946 don't at all. the usa movies anna and the king alter the male lead, same as they did with the captain in the sound of music. In real life both men are nice, genteel and educated with mild temperaments. the king of siam (thailand) was a monk for almost 30 years before becoming king when his brother died. when usa depicts them in a movie, they depict both men as stern and mean, which isn't at all true.
in real life, the real anna was eurasian, not british and ran a pre-school in india, that is how she got the job working for the king of siam teaching his children (he had 75 children from multiple wives). anna had two kids, one in school in england and a son that she brought with her. the son died many decades later, not as a kid as it says in the movie. makes me want to read the book.
noticed when i mentioned the huelva stuff to e's brother he got really nervous, like why do you have to come over here. hmmm? he's already been sued and fired by dj's company for multiple reasons and he was told to stay off our properties completely, doesn't matter which property it is. wonder what he is up to now. that guy is so underhanded and getting old didn't stop it either - why not try, just don't touch anything that doesn't belong to you and if you didn't BUY it its not your's. that's simple isn't it? e called his brother a bull dozer, because anything he does touch he destroys. grrrr. how in the world did he end up like that?
both brothers are underhanded, but go about it in totally different ways. the older one is actually worse than the younger one, but he tries to make it seem like the younger one is the worse of the two, because of the underhanded things the younger one does is out there for everyone to see and jarvi tries to "hide" what he does - and what he does is actually a zillion times worse.
amazing none of it is outgrown as they age - kind of like that born as-is thing, there is already a blueprint and all that - like that twins separated at birth study claims. no matter how old they all become and by now EVERYONE is old, they are still underhanded and up to something most of the time. the stuff jarvi does is just plain stupid though and its like are you a moron or what. seriously. he reminds me of the "peter principle" he is constantly in jobs that he can't really do. and for what? so it will sound like he is more than he is. so get smart and do something you actually CAN do. like teach pre-school or something. seriously. or can't he do that either. or he could just be criminally-minded and likes screwing up other people's things and businesses like a human cyclone. that could be.
had dinner at k's. we had salad, two kinds of mixed veggies, ham, coffee, rum and cokes, and white wine. its been around 60 out during the day, in the sun its warm, but around 49 at night. w fixed the rest of the railing. it looks great. so now its just the painting that needs doing - lots to do.
