"If we started in 1960 and we said that as productivity goes up ... then the minimum wage is going to go up the same ... the minimum wage today would be about $22 an hour. so my question -- with the minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, what happened to the other $14? It certainly didn't go to the workers."

i'm having a LOT of trouble posting on ds. it keeps freezing up.
discovered that the new cholesterol med was giving me side effects. lots of muscle pain and soreness. couldn't believe it. couldn't collect my thoughts well, nor think straight. its amazing how bad medication is, it basically becomes a poison if it doesn't interact well with your body.
beautiful sunny day, in the early morning and then overcast. got very little done. small laundry. animal care. and the realization that i can't take that med. talked to rn, to let her know there is a job in the paper that she could do. i think i've told her about that job before, its dispatching, since she doesn't want to return to anything in healthcare. personally, i don't think she wants to find anything at all. i think she wants to retire and hang out with her pets. have no idea if that is normal or a sign of depression? its none of my business either way. just found out recently that one of the people she runs errands for, was CAR JACKED locally at gunpoint and the person smashed up her car. she hasn't driven since. its amazing the things that happen to people. broad daylight and in a "safe" area. whatever that is. she says the police treated her terribly and wouldn't allow her to go home and change her clothes before going to the police department to file a report. isn't that illegal? they bullied her and she is the victim!
talked to m from the pound he has an hiv cat that needs a home. i actually know someone who wanted one, but so far, i think his father (step father) won't let him. he moved back home with his cat several months ago and they keep it separate from the other animals. really surprised because there is tons of space over there, they have a large house.
packed at the beach because they have easter egg hunts and events, but at the minute none of it interests me. hate to say this but when i see older people like myself at those things, i think to myself, don't you get tired of those things. then you have to laugh because i remember hearing adults complain about that crap allll of my life, including the ones i worked with. before it used to be, i'll stop by, or i'll go to the local club with band and meet you at the thing later. stuff like that. now its like, oh, that again. nah.
ran into w last night, returning from an auction. i never go to those things anymore. i realized i was spending on things that i shouldn't have. so i stopped. haven't been there in years actually, though the deals are amazing. he got a lot of deals. he talked to kv, and says kv is WORSE. kv will call and forget that he just called or w will call him back and kv will say, i remember you. of course i remember you as though they haven't spoken in many years and its only a week or a day. what the hell did the surgeon do when kv had surgery. he says they screwed up, with what? did he die on the table? he had something wrong with his esophogus so how is it all this brain damage. wth? it sounds like his short term memory is completely gone and just pieces of the long term and all jumbled. totally amazes me what happens to people. he's about 33 now and basically, its over.

there should also be a MAXIMUM wage. have to find the meme but most countries, the top worker (ceo) only makes five times as much as the lowest worker. ONLY IN USA and only in the passed 30 years have the numbers swayed to the point of being INCOMPREHENSIBLE how much more a ceo makes. another meme claims 1% hold all the money worldwide and the other 99% of the world lives off whatever is left over. there is an answer for all of it. its called revolution.
solar energy alone would balance out so much of this. the whole planet would be healthier in every way.
I agree that the minimum wage should be raised. If you\'re working 40 hours a week, you shouldn\'t be making less than poverty level wages. Just my opinion. Catching up *HUGS*
I agree too on the minimum wage thing.. They need to raise the disability benefits too.. Geo gets only $750 a month plus $175 in food stamps. That\'s nothing! Our rent alone is $844. People who work for minimum wage should not be under the poverty line.
i agree. there is a meme from when roosevelt put through the minimum wage, it was supposed to be a wage that people could COMFORTABLY LIVE on. the whole money thing is ridiculous. wth is going on in this country?
there is another meme that claims \"middle class\" in usa today is a bare minimum of $1,000,000 (million) in cash, in the bank, not including real estate (though if you sell the real estate you have? that is still cash, whatever is left after your mortgage). anything below the million mark is lower class. boy, is this country in trouble if that is true. a billion cash is upper class.
