reminds me of all the stuff they write on bullying nowadays - serial killers begin as bullies as early as pre-school, they also kill/torture animals or anything that appears defenseless at a particular moment - bullies are cowards.
when governments/communities bully. remember this one from insitutional racism class.
spent the morning looking up "ghost ships" as today is halloween (as dumb a holiday as that is). also looked up chateau miranda [noisy] in belgium - its an abandoned castle. wonder what the taxes are on it and how much they want for it.
we don't get kids going house to house dressed up by us. the churches do harvest day. publix supermarket, and some of the churches do a trunk for treats (cars representing businesses park in the parking lot and have candies etc, its easier for very small children), along with the larger shopping malls offering candy. they should call halloween costume day, its more like a feria without a carnival or parade (though they could easily add to it). i don't think anyone thinks about the dead rising. in mexico that is on november 2 - all soul's day - respecting the dead, and november 1, all saint's day. i had an article that said the costume thing used to be on thanksgiving, people would dress as bums and beggars requesting food, up until the 1960's, starting around 1900. interesting how it all changes.

i don\'t think they dress up at the casino where js works, but i\'m sure they have a good time, i haven\'t even asked her yet. i think every day is a like a party over there. was like that in restaurant work back when i was in 10th grade and working in one.
br says if js makes too much money doing casino work, she won\'t want to go to college, because she won\'t see the point of going. at least she had college prep back in highschool, but every year the question about enrolling in school goes nowhere, even though she has a clue of how much more there is to learn out there.
if a person isn\'t college prep in high school, the subjects they will take in the higher grades are really just a repeat of the classes they took in grades 6, 7, and 8. i can\'t believe they give them a high school diploma for that. when did that start. the kids are encouraged to learn something tech as well, but some of them don\'t even do that. or their parents are ARCHAIC and put them on \"work study\" and the truth is, they are going home and \"working\" with their parent or mother and not really working at a real job anywhere.
if they take college prep, its supposed to be the first two years of college, but done slowly over 4 years.
we only found this out ten years ago when b wasn\'t going to enroll in college prep and we took a look at what b was \"learning.\" j hit the ceiling. it was total CRAP. j couldn\'t even speak when he saw it and b had to switch over and stood there nervously smiling and red in the face. he was all nervous because j doesn\'t normally get mad, but he was when he saw the easy classes and that they give out \"diplomas\" for that?! it would be like, he\'d go through high school and graduate and really only be at an 8th grade level academically. wtf? a newspaper is written at a sixth grade level so i guess the logic is, its enough to get by? why do they have diplomas for any of that at all. like no respect for what the diploma should mean.
allll students should be in college prep or not receive a high school diploma at all. very simple.
i checked this with two guys that work here who are in their late 20\'s and in college and they said its true. when they started college they had to take all the 00 levels (high school level) math, english and science to get them ready for college and they had to pay for those classes at the local college. if they had taken proper college prep classes in public high school its free. you can even take a full course of tech stuff for two years of high school and then switch to college prep after that, until you \"graduate\" you have until age 23 to attend \"high school levels\" for free but once you declare your diploma, you have to start paying.
they should change the system so that no one can quit school until they are 21 and that EVERYONE automatically goes into county college from high school or over to a better university if they have the capacity for study to do that. its not really a matter of intelligence, its a matter of lazy or diligent and which are you?
I know my high school was college prep. It was encouraged to take AP (advanced placement, or college level classes) classes. The valedictorian had like a 4.7 GPA (an A in an AP class is 5 points). I went to a magnet school, though. I know other schools weren\'t like that.
i went to both private and public schools, and private WAS much better, though inner city public college was good or seemed to be, and better than suburban public college - which is very comfortably \"numb.\"
one of my friends went to a suburban public high school that was AWFUL. her parents put her on work study with general studies, even though she wanted college prep and tested into college prep.
the high school she attended was basically a circus and more focused on student activities for the special ed students that were main streamed into the public school. hmmmm want to assign basket weaving and make that the main thing too?
it wasn\'t a real education. the public highschool principal found out that pm wasn\'t going to a real job and her parents had her going home to help her mother at home and the principal changed pm\'s schedule and put pm into a half year typing, book keeping, college level world religion and college level literature class. all of which were half year classes, and her parents had to sign off on it. her father claimed he didn\'t know his daughter wanted to be in college prep classes. sounds fishy to me. how about they wanted slave labor at their house. hire a mother\'s helper then (her family isn\'t broke).
pm says she wasted her ENTIRE junior year and most of her 10th grade year because the classes were so dumb that she was taking. she learned absolutely NOTHING. she dropped out of \"gym\" and signed up with an actual gym taking aeobics to meet that requirement. she had to be removed from \"general\" english and put into college prep english. she said there was a HUGE difference and she finally felt like she was in school again. its very sad. its amazing how bad our system is and if the principal hadn\'t stepped in, she wouldn\'t even have had that. typing got her a job doing office work, what would she have been able to do without it. it also got her through her college (ap) classes so she could type her papers.
the only reason someone realized something was wrong was her long manicured polished nails were gone and her hands looked like crap and she was overheard saying they were messed up from helping her mother after school on work study. \"helping\" your mom isn\'t allowed for work study, the student is supposed to be \"working\" in an office or the mall (i don\'t agree with it anyway. i worked my entire life and i always went to school full time. a person has a LOT of energy when they are a teenager. what a waste.
